Would you ever....

spank your kids?

DH and I were talking about this the other day and we're both for spanking.

Our SIL refuses to hit her kids (ages 1, 3 and 5) and they are total terrors! They do whatever they want and then she reasons with them to get them to do what they're supposed to be doing. They dont listen to direction, they hit each other and adults, they refuse to do anything you ask them to (pick up their toys, eat their food...etc etc). I know they're kids and thats how they're supposed to act, but really, I think getting spanked (not beaten or abused obviously) helps!

What do you ladies think?

I am for it. one time slap of the hand off of things they shouldn't be touching or butt spank is totally acceptable
this is a good way of teaching consequences. small children dont understand FULLY talking as well as actions.
saying u will never spank ur children is only goes as far as not having them currently and planning on having only angels

ETA: both me and my brother were spanked, rarely tho, and it always drove the point way further than any of my mom's scary yelling LOL

nope. i always felt that children need to learn and spanking will only make me feel better. would it be ok for me to smack fh (or vice versa) for everything he did or didnt do that pissed me off? man i wish i could. l mfao

forgot to add that just because i wouldnt doesnt mean i look at people who do in a bad way

I do.

And a spanking shouldn't be abused either; I was only spanked when I did something REALLY bad, other times I was put in a corner for time out or sent to my room.

And it was never done in public.

Absolutely - i got a good wack from my mom time to time.... nothing crazy. slap on the butt here and there or on my hand.

Def. set some boundaries for things that I did that were pretty serious and could have ended badly.

DH is a first grade teacher - some of those kids could use a good spanking based on how they treat others and adults.
