Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
Does anyone have any experiences with either of these stores (as far as registering or just purchasing off of someone else's registry)? I'm contemplating both as my 2nd place to register. The other will most likely be Fortunoff's (or Macy's). Very confused! Any other suggestions are also welcome! Thanks!!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
Don't have any experience with Pottery Barn as far as registries go but I have my 2nd registry with Crate and Barrel, as do a number of my friends. They've been great so far, I'd definitely recommend them. And, they're a little less expensive than Pottery Barn, so your guests might appreciate that.

I registered at Crate & Barrel.I liked their choices for kitchen/entertaining better than Pottery Barn. I like Pottery Barn more for their frames and throws and furniture.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I have a registry at Pottery Barn and they have been really good. My butter knife was being discontinued and I called when I found out. The store ordered one for me and held it till I could get there.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I have never had to deal with pottery barn but a friend of mine registered at Crate & Barrel and I bought things on line off of her registry for her shower. It was painless, fast, efficient, and packaged great. I bought her pilsner glasses, shot glasses, and champagne flutes and they were wrapped so well and none broke!Last Christmas I got 2 gift certificates - 1 for Crate & Barrel and for Pottery Barn. I used the C&B one through a catalog...I mailed it in with my order sheet and everything went great. I still have the PB one!
I definitely intend to register at C&B as my second place. And I agree that they are much cheaper than PB.
Good luck!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I prefer Crate and Barrell. #1, they have more stuff, and #2, the customer service is better, at least in my experience.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
Thanks for the replies... sounds like both are pretty great. I still have to go and check them both out with FI, but I figured I'd get some input first. Thanks

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
leeleelee - Personally, I think the quality of product is nicer at pottery barn.Crate and Barrel has alot of 'fun' stuff though.
I will be registering at both...I'm sure that was no help!
I have heard no complaints about either registry.
Why not both?

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
Pottery Barn has nicer quality products than Crate and Barrel, but C&B seems to have a lot more variety in types of items suitable for a registy, and mostly at very reasonable prices. We used C&B and Fortunoff, and found C&B to be very easy to deal with...registries are definitely a majority of their business and it shows in their product selection and service.Good luck - they are both great stores!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
We registered at C&B. I LOVE both stores!Something to know- C&B allows you to use gift certificates online to purchase things, but Pottery Barn doesn't. If you have a Pottery Barn gift certificate, you must use it in the store.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I went to both, and when I got to PB, I felt like they didn't have a lot of stuff, so I actually cancelled my registry there. They have great stuff, but C&B definitely has a bigger selection in every category.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
We registered at both because there were a few specific things I wanted fron PB and then C&B did have a wider range of stuff.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I chose Crate and Barrel for a few reasons. I think Pottery Barn has more of a 'decor' flair to it and since FH and I do not have a house yet, but hope to in a year or two, I am holding off on decorative type things. I found Crate and barrel to have a lot more kitchen gadgets and practical things I would use and their prices are better, which is a consideration for many of my guests. I think PB has some beautiful stuff, but not always that functional for my taste. We did Fortunoff, C&B and Target (for just a few things)

I did Fortunoff, PB & C&B and I loved all of them and got totally different things from each!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
I registered at C&B and loved it. They were so nice and accomodating. The day we registered was one of their special bridal events, where they opened the store early served us a continental bkfst, and there were only other couples registering and tons of staff to help and answer questions.C&B has some seasonal stuff, but not as much as PB. A friend of mine registered at PB and everything ended up being out of season, so she had to reregister before the shower.
Also C&B has a much better website to order gifts. Plus they are awesome about returns, they took things back - no questions asked.
I love PB for myslef, but recommend C&B to register.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn
We registered at Crate & Barrel and the registry was completely filled. What was nice, but a little frustrating, is that I recently received an email update letting me know that my dinnerware and some of our everyday stemware is being discontinued. Now I have to go out and buy extra place settings sooner rather than later, but I do appreciate receiving a notice like that.
