So everyone always asks 'WHAT DO I DO FIRST?' and the answers you will find are:

Driver's License
Social Security Card
Post Office [for address changing]
Credit Cards
Bank Accounts

BUT- theres ALOT MORE to change that no one thinks of.. And this thread will list some. Ladies- please throw in any that I forgot and I will try to keep this updated. Just FM me if I miss it! Thanks!

A list of the obscure ones that people forget:

Mortgage
Home Owner's Insurance
Gas bill
Electric bill
Water bill
Medical Insurance
W2 forms or any tax forms for your payroll at work
Dental Insurance
Cell Phone Bill
Land line Bill
Cablevision Bill
Internet Bill
Passport
Any internet store that you shop from:
eBay Account
PayPal Account
Amazon
Victoria's Secret
etc etc...



And if anyone changes their EMAIL accounts, remember to change this info on any websites and your bridal registries

Also- after your name change, be sure to:

Any member of a professional association who chooses to change their name professionally-you should call said organization to find out how (I am admitted to the NY Bar, and they have certain procedures!)

i changed everything but social security.......my puppy hate my official marriage licence !!!

i was actually quite suprised that all of my vredit cards and other banking changed it even though i never changed my marriage license. i guess i got lucky, cause i know alot of people that went to change their banking & their credit cards and they were unable to without changing the name on social security!

also has to be changed on professional certificates (teaching certs. or law license for example)

pension plan if you have one

401 K or 403 b if you have one...also, most people then add the hubby as the beneficiary for these things...

Change you name for any rewards programs, like airlines or hotel rewards.

At the DMV, change the name on your title and registration too.
