Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
i didn't give FH a ring, i gave him a bracelet.. but i've seen people switch it from the right to the left.. or other way b/c i think in indian weddings, the ring is supposed to be on your right hand.. but then..

FH didn't get anything for the engagement...he gave me a ring. And our priest told us that we're supposed to wear our wedding band on the right hand....but i want to wear it on my left.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Uhhh, he explained why, but I don't really remember why it's on the right hand.Planning is going well....still lots of little details. But, we got our marriage license, flower girls dresses came in, cake topper came in, had my bridal shower....so it's been a crazy few weeks, but very exciting.
What about everyone else.....how's everything going??

Per wikipedia:
In the Indian tradition, the left hand is considered suspicious. Hence the wedding ring is worn on the right hand. However, despite tradition, some wear the ring on the left hand, matching cultural practice in some western countries.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
hi ladies, just checking in to see how your doing?
I am ok. little by little i am getting adjusted to Cali and living with the inlaws. Yesterday, we passes a social security office and we stop to see if they can change my name on it. I took a number and less than a minute i was called and done in 5 minutes! If i had to do this in ny it would be a all day event! Next is the driving license but unfortunately i have to take the test over so i have to study a bit. In cali you arent allowed to honk. omg...i think i might have withdrawals. Cali has it pros and cons, it just taking me a while to adjust but i love the weather so far. Flip flops EVERYDAY!
Let me know if you ladies need anything.

I dont want real jewelry for my wedding party or reception ( i have to wear real gold for the other functions.)
