My 12/1/02 Wedding Review
I may not have posted very much - There wasn't much time planning a wedding in only 6 months!! But - I must thank everyone here for all the help you provided during my whirlwind wedding planning. So - now that I have a little more time - I thought that I'd try to give something back - and at least post a review - if it would be helpful to any of you.I'm lucky that I can say - it all worked out well - and I had SO MUCH FUN on my wedding day! Here's how it all went.
The night before - and my wedding night, too - we stayed at the Inn at Great Neck. We splurged on a nice hotel - but it was worth it. The rooms have big windows - perfect for letting in natural light to do make up.
MAKE UP - Lisa St Onge from Cactus Salon in Plainview - - A
Lisa arrived on time - and was a true professional. She did a great job. She did the make up for 2 of my BM's, my Mom & my MIL - and they were all happy.
HAIR - My hairdresser works from home in Plainview. She's been doing my hair for more than 10 years - so I wasn't worried here. Thank goodness she was an invited guest, too - cause my hair needed fixin' after we came in from taking some outdoor shots.
(the wind was blowing so hard - it blew my veil off my head!!)

Re: My 12/1/03 Wedding Review
LIMO - Excalibur - - BWe used a limo for 2 hours - to take us from the hotel to Steppingstone Park in Great Neck - and then to the synagogue. The limo was fine - except that it was dragging a muffler. I guess it wasn't their newest model! Here's a tip, though - when you get out of the limo - WATCH YOUR DRESS! Keep it away from the tires. I got some grease on mine - just from brushing up against the wheels.
DRESS - PRISCILLA OF BOSTON - - B+
I loved my dress - But this was the most stressful part of my wedding planning. The dress came in as they promised in early November. But - it came in wrong! They were supposed to add lace sleeves to the dress - but added silk sleeves instead. The neckline, too, was all wrong. By the time they had it corrected - I got the dress 4 days before the wedding. Talk about stress!! But - they tried to make it up to me by not charging for the alterations - which helped a bit. Their seamstress was very talented - and she even came in on her day off to meet me. It all worked out in the end - and I just loved wearing the dress.

PRESTIGE CATERERS/Great Neck Synagogue- - AThe whole staff did a great job. I was concerned that the place wouldn't be pretty enough - but it was. Our maitre d' was jsut always one step ahead of us - taking care of everything.
BAND - KEN JAMES ORCHESTRA - - A
The dance floor was full almost the whole night - and we've had lots of good feedback from our guests. They were a little loud - but I think that's something that's hard to avoid. They seemed to be having as much fun as we were - and they really helped to make it a great party! And a nice touch - we got a hand written thank you note from the band leader after the wedding.
FLORIST - SPITZ & PECK - - A-
If I had to do it again - I think I would have gone with Stefans instead. The flowers were fine but my bouquet was all wrong. I had wanted a cascading bouquet - and that's not what I got.... I really thought my bouquet was UGLY. But that's my biggest complaint about my wedding day - and I wouldn't let it bother me. Also - our chuppah wasn't really set up the way we had requested. Other than that - they were easy to work with - and the centerpieces and the BM's bouquets were really nice.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO - JOVON --- A++We hired 2 photographers: Our main photographer was Telmo - and we had Matt taking candids. Again, we 'splurged' more than we thought we would - but it was worth it! Telmo arrived early at the hotel - and stayed right through to the end of the day. He is just great to work with - He's laid back - nothing seemed to bother him - and yet 'on top of it all.' Matt was so enhusiastic - capturing every moment he could. We have a great assortment of color & b/w shots - So many good ones it'll be hard to choose the ones for the album!
Our videographer was Alex - and he was pleasant to work with too. We haven't seen the tape yet. I'm so glad we decided to have a video. The whole day goes by so quickly - and you're always involved with something - it's the only way to try to capture all the things you've missed...
Here's a b&w portrait of us:

Hi Marisa -Yes - the orchestra was REALLY good. We had Bruce Saunders as our band leader. Are you using him, too? We got tons of compliments - and I saw some of our guests out on the dance floor who I know never dance. So - they had to be good...

Re: My 12/1/03 Wedding Review
THE HONEYMOON - - A+++We went to to Costa Rica. It's a very pretty country - it's just so lush & green. There's rain forests & a volcano - so you know that you're not in NY :) ....and the climate was great - high 70's to low 80's. We had a very active vacation - lots of hiking, biking, climbing, horse back riding, scuba, kayaking, etc. (My husband's not the kind to sit still too long!!) But - we stayed in a resort in Guanacaste - the Melia Playa Conchal that has the most beautiful pool I've ever seen - and it's right on the beach, too. And - in Arenal - which is by the volcano - there are natural hot springs. The water in these pools can be as hot as 100 degrees. And - there are beautiful waterfalls.... We stayed at the Tabacon Hot Springs resort in Arenal - and they have a GREAT spa. I got a 3 HOUR treatment (massage/body exfoliation/facial) for $147. What a deal!! There's a lot more - but let me just say Costa Rica is a great place to go - and not too expensive, either.
Well - thanks again for all your help. I got SO MUCH information from all of you. I really don't know how I could have done it without your help.
I'll post some pics soon - once I can figure out how to scan them down to size...
Thanks again!!

Re: My 12/1/03 Wedding Review
Can I ask you if you had any problems with your dress alterations? I have a Priscilla gown also and a bride on this board was very disappointed with her alterations.
