Our wonderful 10/25/14 wedding ( Timber Point Mansion, Absolute Entertainment, photobybasia, Capture the moment and more!)
First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to this site. I met so, so many great ladies on here and everyone here was super helpful through the wedding planning process. I found my videographer through you all and for that, I am so incredibly grateful. You all are so incredibly sweet and I know my wedding was only a few months ago and I didn’t post a ton but I miss coming on here for ideas and commiserations. My biggest advice to all future brides is to enjoy this time of being engaged. It really is something special, being the bride. Take advantage of all of it- do all the fun things you’ve always said you were going to do when you were a bride, whether it’s that pintrest project, the boudoir photo shoot you had to have or something that you only get to do as a bride. I wasn’t a perfect bride, but I feel like I took advantage of everything that this time had to offer. Our wedding day was the best, most perfect day of my life and truly went by so fast.Engagement Party- A+ - Medford Fire House
My husband’s late grandfather was chief of the Medford fire department so we ended up having our engagement party here. It was a simple but fun affair, just a chance for our bridal party, family and close friends to meet. My mom’s best friend crafted some beautiful desserts and I had a blast making the decorations for the party.
Save the Dates- Wedding Paper Divas- A
They came out beautifully and everything was delivered on time for us! People had such nice things to say about them. They always offer some sort of discount so be on the lookout for that when you are ordering so you save a bit of money.
Wedding Invitations- Party City- A+
I really was not picky about invitations because you just throw them away anyways. I had heard good things about Party City so my mom and I went there. We looked through the book, choose the style and wordings. It was delivered very quickly and prompt to us and they didn't give us a hard time about ordering some extras. no complaints here!
Calligraphy, Programs, Escort cards and Wedding Signage- The Estellage Shop- A ++++
I wanted to brief rave about this vendor because this one of my best friends, Danielle. She specializes in all different types of signs and she was more than willing to help me with all the signs and calligraphy on the wedding invitations. As you can see, her designs added a personal touch to our day that we could have never had without her work. As well, everyone could not get over the gorgeous calligraphy she did for us. She also came to the venue with me to figure out where to place everything.
Wedding menu’s- Gray Star Design- A+
I reached out to Melissa when I got into a bind when the etsy vendor I had wanted to do my menu’s backed out of the order- refunding my money but still. The etsy vendor had given me the preliminary design which I sent to Melissa and she was able to immediately duplicate this at no charge. I really appreciated her helping me out when I was in a bind.
Bridal Shower- A+ - My in-laws’ house
I had my bridal shower in August and had requested it to be at my inlaws because they have such a nice, big backyard. Plus I wanted it to be outside, in the summer. My mom and her best friend did most of the work, but my bridesmaids did help out a bit as well. As you can see, we were completely showered with love on this day. I especially loved the baskets my mom put together. There was sangria that my MOH made as well that I heard was good but it was gone by the time I got there. I was so touch my bridesmaids who live out of town made the effort to get here for this weekend and it wouldn’t have been the same without them.
Bachelorette Party- Honu Kitchen and Cocktails A+
My MOH planned and organized this. I loved all the little touches – the sashes, the crown, the wash on and off tattoos and how so many people came together to make this day special for me. I would say one word of advice to brides is maybe not to do your shower and bachelorette party on the same day- I originally requested this so my out of town best friends wouldn’t have to travel twice but maybe I should’ve switched it off so it wasn’t such a long crazy weekend for everyone. We had so much fun- the menu at Honu was price fix. We all had dinner there and then did some dancing. We stayed in the hotel that night nearby and so I got some extra time with my girls. So fun.
Boudoir Photo Shoot- Rue Boudoir- A+
Coming into my bridal boudoir shoot I didn't know what to expect. I had gotten the deal to rue boudoir on living social and had booked with Laura six months in advance. What was really cool was she had a Pinterest page of all the goodies in her closet from props to outfits to shoes and jewelry that way you could pre browse and it was easier to select outfits. I did this and made a board for Laura to look at . Upon arrival she had everything I wanted pulled and I was also able to browse the closet on my own. There was a makeup and hair artist on hand who was amazing and really listened to what I was looking for. Laura let me try on the outfits and then offered her opinion on what looked best. We did the photo shoot after and she really took what I wanted on my Pinterest page and integrated it into the shoot which was awesome, she was great at helping me pose the right way and got me to relax and have fun. After that we went through all my photos and picked the best. I am normally so indecisive but Laura was helpful as far as how to narrow down the pictures best. I had so much fun and the Pictures were gorgeous and my dh loved my boudoir book. Thank you Laura for such a fun day in the city Also one other comment I should mention is the cleanliness of the outfits and that liners are present for the bottoms of the outfits which I thought was really a nice touch.
Rehearsal Dinner- Irish Coffee Pub A+
My inlaws found us this place for our rehearsal dinner and it did not disappoint. The food was spectacular from the pasta to the fish to the ice cream brownie dessert everything was great. They gave us a large private room to ourselves and we were able to spread out and have time with everyone before our big day!
Officiant- Doug and Kelly Jansson A+++++
My husband and I are regularly church going folks, so for us, officiates was probably the easiest decision of our wedding day. I’ve known Doug and Kelly since I was a little girl and my DH has known them since he began dating me and joined our church. So many people, whether they were religious or not, complimented how well they did our ceremony. We did 3 sessions of pre marital counseling prior to the wedding with two other couples getting married in 2014 which I thought was a nice touch, it wasn’t mandatory but was helpful. We wanted both Doug and Kelly up there with us as we got married and I loved that- Kelly did my vows and ring ceremony and Doug did my DH. Can’t say enough about how much I love these guys. So accommodating to everything- whether it was letting us write our own vows or even clearing out their church Friday before the wedding so we could rehearse there.
Timber Point Country Club: A++
My husband and I booked Timber Point pretty much on the spot - my mom had prelooked at one other place for me since I was studying for my physical therapy boards and unable to but my mind was sold on Timber Point. We met with Neal who my dad absolutely loved and he was very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions including some crazy ones! He was very easy to get in touch with through email and honestly never seemed bothered by any of my questions or millions of emails which is a nice quality. He was always willing to work with us with meetings as my husband and i have pretty conflicting work schedules. The week of, you bring in all the items you want displayed at the venues with list of instructions on how you want them done. Some of them i didn't honestly know until I had the items there with me at the venue so Neil allowed me some time to place the items where we wanted them and then write them down. Day of, the food was great- we loved the strip steak and mahi mahi the best out of the entrees- as bride and groom you get to try them all! Cocktail hour we didn't get to enjoy as much of because we were doing pictures but Julio who was our matri'd made sure plates were upstairs for us to enjoy which was really nice- the guests seemed to enjoy it and we lucked out with our day because we were able to have it outside. Julio was really sweet and available to anything we needed we didn't have to even blink and we had what we needed. He kept everyone going and where they needed to be at all times. The drinks and bartenders were all great- it's kind of hard at your own wedding to really enjoy the drinks because you're constantly getting pulled but we still managed to really enjoy whatever drinks we had and all the guests enjoyed them too. The Viennese hour with icecream bar was also great but again we were pulled so we couldn't enjoy it as much. They made sure to package up each of the treats though so we did enjoy it afterwards! It was such a beautiful venue and all the guests could not get over the view for the ceremony. You looked out and you could see the entire great south bay. Our photographer took us all the way down to the edge of the course and we were able to get some really beautiful pictures by the water which truly made our day. The only comment I would make is regarding the bridal attendant I had, Andrea. She was nice enough, I suppose, however i was later told she was not nice to one of our guests and she did not bustle my wedding dress right causing it to constantly come undone. one of my guests was finally able to bustle it correctly for me but it should not have been an issue I feel like. Other than that, Timber Point was an amazing place to get married and I would chose it all over again.
Courtyard Long Island MacArthur Airport- Ronkonkoma, NY A+
I booked with Samara and the Courtyard after visiting their hotel and seeing how beautiful it was. They didn't disappoint. The guests enjoyed themselves at the hotel. We had free reign of the outdoor tent with the fire pit where our bridal party spent many hours doing karaoke and drinking and hanging out. It was in close proximity to another bar so after we went to bed the wedding party carried on. They delivered our gift bags to our guests which they loved. Great experience no complaints!
DJ- Absolute Entertainment A+
We booked with Kevin after meeting his team at a showcase and were impressed by his professionalism. As well, they are unofficially officially Timber Point's DJ that they recommend. My husband and I met with him and he took us through the whole day and had some really great ideas to make the day perfect. About two weeks before, you go online and you make a playlist of songs you absolutely want to hear and ones you do not want played as well as specifics such as announcements or special requests. They also have all different eras and genres of music so you can go into each and pick out what songs you want or if say there was an era you didn't want you could let him know too. Two days prior to the wedding, the guy who is going to be the MC which in our case was Josh called us just to confirm specifics such as spelling and pronunciation of people's names and what songs were playing where. There was one song he didn't have so my husband emailed him the you tube link to the video and it was fine. The DJ was Cliff and he was great too, although i didn't interact with him much. Josh kept the dance floor packed all day which for a day wedding was awesome that we had as many people dancing as we did. He didn't get to play my husband's dedication song to me but we were out taking pictures right up until the end because the sunset and lighting were gorgeous so i do not fault them for that we just ran out of time- no big deal! My dad really liked them as well, because he felt like he could still talk to people and maintain conversation and the DJ didn't overpower that which is good we had some older people there. We also had their basic lighting package which for a day wedding lighting isn't needed but i thought it was great what we had. We got from them the super booth my husband and i had wanted a plain classic old fashioned booth but they weren't available so Kevin gave us the big super booth for the same price the classic would have been. Everyone seemed to enjoy it- the photo booth attendant was great and everyone had a blast. We got the pictures from the booth right after the wedding so that was great. Really no complaints (only that they aren't the best with email but you really don't need to email them much) would recommend them to everyone- our dance floor was packed and my husband's never danced that much in his life!
Photo- Photo by Basia- A +++
I heard about Basia through a friend of my mom's. When I first Basia, it was like I was meeting a friend for the first time. It helps probably that we have similar outgoing and upbeat personalities. She was extremely prompt and efficient in getting back to me- never went more than a day without an email back from her. She took direction and shot lists well even though I suspect her style is more abstract but I'm a bit type A. We had our engagement photos and my husband was upset because he didn't see as much color in the photos as he wanted to in the background- I thought they were fine but he's weird i guess. Anyways, I emailed her regarding this and she quickly remedied the situation for our wedding and had beautiful colors. She was willing to try anything- from bikes at our engagement shoot that we found on the side of the beach to going all the way down to the end of TPCC to see the great south bay better. She truly produced beautiful photos and I got the most compliments on my photographs out of anything else. She also had great assistants both times I worked with her- Ken and her sister- they both were professional and helpful especially with my shot list making sure people were where they should be. Basia also took notes on my pintrest pages as far as photos I wanted taken for the wedding or engagement shoots and actually did them all. It was awesome. Basia herself is one of the sweetest people i've ever met and she made it so easy to get along- her energy was contagious. You're with your photographer the most out of anyone all day and you want to be with someone you can stand haha and like i said, i felt like i was hanging out with my friend all day with her. I have recommended her to so many people and she deserves it. Can't wait to see the albums she makes us. oh and the other thing that is nice is you have access to all your pictures via a private gallery so you can download them to your PC and put them on social media, make thank yous and print out pictures for friends- you don't have to buy them to do this and i like that. We feel so lucky to have had her as part of our wedding and we hope more people start to use her. She truly loves what she does and she puts that love into her pictures she creates for you.
Videographer- Capture the Moment video- A++
So my husband did not want a videographer. He felt like it was an unnecessary expense that wasn't needed. However, thankfully my parents paid for this expense. Thanks to LI weddings, I found Capture the moment and discovered that I actually knew Jess the owner- she went to my high school and graduated a year before me - funny coincidence. We booked with her right away and i loved her. she was so sweet and she understood what I wanted out of the video. She always responded quickly to my emails and messages. What's nice is if you pay cash she lowers the price by 100 dollars which in wedding world whatever you can take you take to save some money. Rob did our wedding video on our day because Jess was unavailable and he was great he really got some beautiful shots he was incredibly nice and professional to work with. I couldn't believe the beautiful shots he got. He would come up to us during the night to get some shots outside and he really worked so so hard. We got our trailer about a month after the wedding which we love our trailer and my husband was soooo glad we got a videographer! The way Jess edited it was so so beautiful and everyone said how nice it was. She also put all our raw footage on a hard drive we purchased for no cost and gave us as many copies of our final dvd as we wanted. No complaints here- there are so many companies who really run up the prices on the videos- Jess doesn't - she keeps it budget friendly and the quality is the same as if you paid 5000 or 10000 for it. I am so grateful we found her! Our final video was amazing as well. I gave Jess footage of our proposal because my husband videoed it on his phone and she put it on our video so we'd have it forever.
Hair and makeup- Kathy’s Hair Corner A+
I get my hair done here and had booked with Alyssa for make up after talking to her about what I wanted. Our trial was at our engagement photo shoot and she did an amazing job with my makeup- so many people complimented me on it. I then did another hair trial with someone else just to compare and I wasn't happy at all so Kathy, the owner, did my hair trial and I felt so comfortable with her to tell her what worked and what did not work and just was honest with her. I appreciated that they were able to accommodate all my bridesmaids and mom and me on the day of the wedding without a hitch. They opened the shop early and Kathy even made us a nice breakfast treat which was so cute and she had coffee for us. She and Alyssa did an amazing job on everyone's hair and makeup and did it timely. The hair and makeup stayed all day and everyone was genuinely happy and looked gorgeous!
Cake- Black Forest Bakery- A+
We met with Black Forest in July and booked with them because they were one of two bakeries Timber Point worked with. The lady who met with us was very sweet- gave us as many samples as we wanted for no charge since DH was unable to come to the tasting. I wanted something very simple plain white with no fondant and butter cream frosting. Everyone said the cake tasted great we had white cake with chocolate filling on one layer and chocolate cake with chocolate filling on another and it came out great. Really, no complaints here.
Rings- Whitman Coin and Jewelry- B
My husband picked out my engagement ring from this place at a recommendation from a friend. They gave him a great value and I love my ring but I found out after he proposed he had to go back a few times. The first time he went to inspect my engagement ring, it was missing a diamond. They had to take care of that and then all was fine- my engagement ring is perfect and we got a great deal on it and it's great quality. I'll skip to his wedding band because my band was fine- they had ordered it when we got engaged- it had to be slightly resized and we got that engraved also but there was absolutely no issue. We ordered his band in the summer like August just a plain gold band with engraving on the inside which was free- a huge perk. My husband was sized that day but when we got his ring back in October it was sized incorrectly- by alot. He's a size 7 and 3/4 (which we did not know at the time) and he was sized a 9!! So my husband called the jewelry store about this when he got the ring and he did not want to come back in the store because it was 45 minutes away. So they had him send the ring back to the store and they agreed to compress it while not messing up the engraving so it would be okay for wedding. He got it back and it fit better but still not perfect- probably an 8 and a half by that point. There was no time to re-fix it so we just left it for the wedding and it fit enough that it wouldn't get lost but it was still loose. Even when we went to Aruba on our honeymoon where it is hotter it was still loose! So when we got back we went back to the store and they were amazed it still didn't fit. So we weren't leaving the store today until it was fixed. They kept working on it and then it finally fit. We think we're done but my husband figures once we get in the car he wanted to check over the ring to make sure it was okay. He checks it over and the outside of the ring is kind of turned in like an oval shape- it didn't look right. So he goes back in and the lady at the front says, ' Well why did you look at it?!' which i thought was unprofessional and was accusing him of just seeing things. Thankfully the owner came over and saw indeed what he saw. They had us wait an hour and they fixed it. We finally left and are never going back. It was a much more stressful process than it needed to me but we do love our rings so we can't fault them for that but it was SUCH a process.
Tuxes- Men’s Warehouse – B
The experience of going here and picking out everything was great but one of my groomsmen was missing a tie and the other groomsmen who went to the store and ordered the store said they never got an order from him. Thankfully these things were overall remedied.
Flowers- Flowers by Burton- A-
I met with John at Flowers by Burton about six months before our wedding. He was extremely friendly, professional and the cost for the flowers we wanted was unreal- great value! For me, I was not really interested in the type of flowers as long as it was pink or white and looked pretty it was fine with me! John took the time to educate me and my mom regarding the different types of flowers and showed us many pictures, making it easier to choose which ones we liked best. We booked on the spot with him and then two months before the wedding, you go and choose the flowers for the wedding and confirm what you need and the types of flowers you want. They charge you by the amount of pieces you want as opposed to type of flower which most places do the opposite. At the time of this appointment, i mentioned that I had made something to go on the toss bouquet. John kind of gave me a bit of a hard time about putting something on the toss bouquet as he felt like it would not work on that. He said, 'Well why can't you just give the item to the person who catches your bouquet?' It was a note to go on the bouquet which why would i just hand it to her and where would you expect me to keep it. I was a little pushy and explain you could probably hole punch it which i would do myself and supply with ribbon if he needed. He said no problem hole punch it and we'll do the ribbon. Two days before the wedding, you pay for the flowers so that you can confirm how many tables you need which is nice- we had asked for two more than we needed and he was happy to subtract them and I gave him the note then- he said no problem. on the day of the wedding when I went to my bouquet toss, first thing i looked for on the bouquet was the note and it was nowhere to be found. The other little glitch was that two of the bouquets were supposed to be labeled with MOH for my two sister in laws to carry in honor of their grandparents who passed. Needless to say, bouquets were not labeled and as we were getting ready to walk down, i was trying to organize their bouquets. Overall their flowers were absolutely beautiful and i would absolutely recommend them to anyone for the value and like I said, the flowers were beautiful. I don't know if there's a way to avoid these glitches- no one is perfect and I am somewhat laidback and at that point it was my wedding day so i didn't care anymore but just felt i would do a disservice to brides if i didn't mention the two errors.
My dress and Mother of the Bride dress- Bridal Suite of Bay Shore- A+
I truly had a great experience at the Bridal Suite of Bay Shore. It was the only place I tried on dresses from and it was worth it. I had an appointment with Joanne who was just lovely. She truly made me feel special that day and I am so thankful. My mom and I were in one of the private show rooms where we had room to spread out and try on dresses. Joanne let us go around and look at all of them but she also pulled some for me. Joanne wanted me to have no regrets about the dress I chose and she had me try on almost every style in the store. We had narrowed it down to two dresses - the first and second I tried on. She put me back in both and had me spend ample time walking around and looking in the mirror at both of the dresses for 20 minutes per dress which I thought was awesome. She never rushed me or pressured me to make a decision. As well, she stayed to budget and even exceeded my mom's expectations and my dream dress was under budget! Because of this, I found the dress of my dreams, didn't feel any regret about not going to other places. Alterations was no problem- i know some people have nightmares about alterations and have had issues but myself and my mom who purchased her dress here as well really did not. The ladies got the alterations done in a timely fashion and if anything needed to be adjusted it was done. Really no complaints about this place- from top to bottom it was a professional experience
David's bridal -Bridesmaid Dresses, Mother of Groom Dress, Shoes and Flower girl Dress- B+
I purchased my bridesmaid dresses from David's bridal. When we went we had an appointment and the employee at David's stayed with us while we pulled the dresses we thought we might want. She found us dressing rooms and then after that just left us! I had had some questions about colors of the dresses and if certain colors worked with other dresses and she was off helping another bride. I mean I understand that the bride is going to give you more of a sale than the bridesmaid dresses but I still felt she could have been more available to us. However, the dresses came in on time with no issues and everyone's got altered quickly. We also purchased our flower girl dress from David's- we had no issues with the dress. It came in on time and my flower girl loved it. I also got shoes from David's and so did my mom and they were great! The shoes were super comfortable and cute and exactly what we were looking for!
Wedding favors- A+
My mom and I argued back and forth about this for months until I figured out this. Mason jars from a bulk restaurant company and stickers from Sticker You. Thanks to my FSIL and FCIL for helping me putting these together. Painless and who doesn’t love a good mason jar?
Day of Jewelry- Estelle’s Dressy Dresses- A-
I got my bridesmaid their gifts and my day of jewelry from here. I worked with a really nice girl named Amanda to find affordable and cute pieces for myself and the girls. I loved the jewelry and they loved it as well. The only minor glitch was that they charged my credit card twice for the purchases I made but I brought my receipt down and the matter was rectified. In addition, I got the girls lacrosse pinnies to get ready in but those weren’t from Estelle’s, those were from a lacrosse site.
Etsy Vendors all I would like to acknowledge at this time and give them all A+++

I'm so glad you had a great experience with the Marriott! I looked there today and it was beautiful but I can't book until a year out. Did you use the shuttle company they work with to take your guests to the venue and back?

I did not, we had a day wedding and most of our guests staying overnight were local guests, just wanting to keep the party going with us plus the shuttle they had only held 14 people at a time- which didn't even cover our wedding party and us!

Thank you for this!! This is great! I am getting married at Timber Point as well so it is so nice to see how everything came together for you! I love the little petal toss saying and cones. Did you make them yourself? If so Is there a template you used and did you use real or fake petals?
