Our amazing Bridgeview Yacht Club Wedding
First I'm listing the vendors that were absolutely worth their weight in gold. I'm not mentioning unimportant vendors, and then I'm listing vendors I would not use again.AMAZING VENDORS HANDS DOWN WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
We got married at BYC this summer. Everything there was absolutely top notch. They handled the event beautifully and we got tons of compliments. I want to go back there for another event so I can actually eat the food. 10 apps, stations for cocktail hour - coney island, asian, all kinds of stuff. Signature cocktail, amazing dinner, and the cake comes included from A Sweet Peace. We used their place cards and direction cards. Did menu cards thru minutemen press in RVC. Very economical.
A SWEET PEACE - although they technically fall under bridge view, I would have to give them their own time in the sun. Our cake was SO delicious that I can't wait till our first anniversary to eat it. May have to get wedding cupcakes for our next family party. THese ladies are amazingly talented and couldn't be sweeter or more accommodating. I wish i had the $ to do a groom's cake for rehearsal dinner because they would have nailed it.
Rehearsal Dinner - Sutton Place - Long Beach - We loved our rehearsal dinner here. The food was amazing. It was almost like it could have been a mini wedding. We picked 6 apps.. Highlights included seared ahi tuna (amazing), tomato mozzarella skewers (also amazing), buffalo chicken meatballs (delish,) pork empanadas, sliders, and chicken satay. Then there was a full buffet dinner for which we picked 4 different entree options. We have a huge family so they gave us our own area with a retractable roof because we had so many people. Open bar for 4 hours, professional staff, it was great.
Allegria Hotel - Night before wedding and getting ready suite - obscenely expensive, but worth every penny. Beautiful views and beautiful pics. Cons include that they don't give you anything beyond offering to hand out welcome bags to your guests. No complimentary brunch (even continental) or complimentary shuttle like some hotels give. The pros are the amazing atmosphere, A lot of staff to help us get anything we called for, and we called them a lot for stuff for the morning of. It was the closet to Bridgeview - convenience a major plus. Our guests were able to hang out at the bar between the mass and reception and enjoy the day.
LImo - Elegant transportation in Oceanside - We didn't have any out of the ordinary requests for limos - we wanted a local, reliable company that could give us a good value for the service. Elegant helped us choose a limo large enough for the entire bridal party - a 20 person hummer. We were able to double up and use the hummer as a shuttle between the allegria and bridge view and just pay for extra time instead of dealing with numerous companies. The driver was very accommodating of our complicated plan and it all went off without a hitch. Would use them again.
Photography - Here we were willing to spend a decent amount of money. We went with Jaylim who turned out to give us a fabulous product for the money. He isn't cheap but he isn't outrageously expensive either and his work is outstanding. We had Jay and Kate and they could not have worked harder for us on the day. I can't remember our cinematographer's name but they truly were everywhere on the day of our wedding. We didn't have to worry about a thing.
RANDOM - SCOUT DESIGN SHOP LONG BEACH - We rented chalkboards through them and it really was a special touch. THey came out amazing and didn't clutter our house because we gave them back after a week. They are super talented girls and charge a reasonable amount for their talent. I wish I had thought to do my invitations through them because I feel like they would have done an amazing job at a reasonable price
KLEINFELDS - great. They're number one for a reason. We did everything through kleinfelds - jewelry, veil, and dress, and I would do it again.
ANDREW SCOTT EVENTS - flowers - I loved my flowers and for 21 centerpieces (high/low) plus all bouquets etc, he really didn't break the bank. He also did rose petals for outside the church at a reasonable price.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
Roseanna Amador - hair - this chick comes with a good portfolio, and although she did a good job on my hair it did not stay put all night. She also forgot to put in my veil and trim my blusher which she said she would do at my trial. She came with a high price tag and I just didn't think she was worth the money. She costs more than your average hair person and I just don't think that the attention to detail was there. I don't think it should be on the bride to remember to put the veil in on the morning of.
Invitations - This is an area in general where I just don't see the sense in spending a lot. No one cares and when you're throwing a wedding there are sooo many expensive things (stamps even!) that if you can spend less you should. We spent about $5 per suite but if I could do it again I would try and get Minutemen press to see how cheap they could do it. You just don't want your invites to look cheap.
