Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

Okay.. I have to say.. I think they are funny..

Being a 'fat' person myself, I'm not offended in the least.

She's making fun of our PC attitudes in this country.. I'm mean saying some is fat is considered mean or teasing, but saying their 'over weight' is not??

It doesn't matter what words you use if you understand the context they are spoken in.

Just my opinion...

P.S. I do agree her voice is a bit annoying...lol

Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

I think it is funny... I really feel like she is talking to me. 'Hey Chubby!'

Being a chubby person, maybe this will be my ultimate motivation LOL

Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

Also, as someone who has struggled with an eating disorder all her life, I don't think that this commercial is good for those with a similar condition. I know it sounds crazy, but having her look out from the television saying 'Hey, you're chubby too.' is not going to help people who already hav a skewed body image.

Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

i dont see why anyone would take offense...if youre chubby or fat, well then its simply the truth

if not, you can ignore the whole thing.

i think that ifd rather have someone chunky do a weight loss commercial than a skinny betch

Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

I looked at it from this point of view:
How sad for her that this is what she's brought herself to. And that new show she's doing, JT told me that they will let her shoot another episode only if she loses five pounds. The deal is, if she's wants 1 episode, lose five pounds, want 2 episodes, lose another five, etc. I feel really sorry for her.

I didn't see them yet. But be a 'chubby' girl myself I don't think that's cool.

Hey I have a question> anyone who is not a toothpick and is big boned are you more offended by the word Obese then the word 'fat' I am and I can't figure it out. Id rather be called Fat then Obese.

Re: OMG! How annoying are the Kirstie Alley Jenny Craig commercials?

I don't find this commercial to be as annoying as the Trimspa one 'Wanna win some money? Like my body?' I want to scream every time I see it on the t.v. I can't STAND it!

I am not considered 'overweight' but a long time friend is and she has said the same thing to me. However, i find obese to be more of a medical term. Like when they talk about Gastric Bypass they say those people medically eligible for the surgery have to be obese. I find the word Fat to be more used in society as a whole. When someone calls someone fat, i find it degrading, where i find when someone calls someone obese its more of a worry for their health.

I find body types to be all different types. I don't ever judge someone on their weight because i have had many people in my life i see struggle with it. I think we are all genetically inclined to be one way or another. I have friends who have been bigger girls/guys but they have always been and then i have girls who have been toothpick skinny and want to be heavier and can't gain weight. I believe you jsut have to eat healthy and don't let it control your life. However, i think when someone tells someone that they are obese its more of a health issue. I never heard of anyone describing someone by sight as 'she/he is obese' unless they are like over 400 pounds or something like that. Its usually the use of 'overweight, Fat, or like 'she is a BIG girl or Boy.' So that is my take on it. I find the other terms (other then obese) to be degrading. JMO
