Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

well, i know you get it in like 7th grade. but if you are doing it to get married, it won't take that long. i think you have to sign up for something with the church and then they confirm you during a regular sunday mass.

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

I assume you are already baptised & did your communion??

I think you have to attend some classess, but I think you definitley can get it done beofre your wedding day, since its a year away, but you have to get going on it soon.

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

I actually just did this. Most churches make you attend classes which is usually from sept or oct until the night before Easter. I was confirmed that night-with a bunch of other people.

I spent every sunday at mass and a few hours after and had to do a few things with the church...

fm with any questions

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

yeah im baptised and have my communion. i moved away when i was supposed to start taking confirmation classes and then never started in my new hometown. :-/

i'm moving to florida now so i would think i'd have to get my confirmation there. dont you have to be a part of the church to have your wedding there though? and how much is their 'donation' and how long are pre cana classes?

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

If you do not belong to the church you need to provide a letter from your church releasing you-and you need to provide all your certificates...

every churches donation is different..mine is $600.00-plus they wanted cash when I made my sacrament to keep the program going.

In NY pre cans is diff-again depends on the parish. We did a friday night and all day satutrday class

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

My FH did not make his confirmation and it didn't matter. In fact, in order to get married in a Catholic church only one person has to be baptized. I assume it would be the same everywhere.

I am surprised by that because we have to show our baptism and confirmation certificates, and a friends fh had to take classes to be confirmed before they would allow them to get married i guess every church really is different

Not long at all, I believe you just have to attend a few sessions with the priest/pastor. Good luck!

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

You only need to be baptized to be married in a Catholic Church. The priest will ask you when you meet where and when you received your other sacraments, but really you only need your baptism.

If you want to be confirmed before your wedding day, (which I think is really awesome....good for you!) you should contact your church ASAP. they will enroll you in the RCIA (Roman Catholic Initiation for Adults) classes. These meet usually once a week for several months and you will receive your Confimation on Easter Sunday. (Which is in March, I believe in 2007).

Pre Cana is usually done in the parish or diocese where you arer getting married. if you're living in Florida right now, you can probably arrange to get it done there and show documentation of its completion to the parish you're getting married at up here.

Donations vary by church.... the size of the parish, the number of people it serves/provides for, the amount of tithing, etc. that goes on factors into the donation. People give what they are comfortable with, but on average, most churches fall around $500.00. mine is a bit less than that, but personally i am going to give more.

Hope this helps... good luck to you!!!!!

Typically, at least one person has to be confirmed.

Re: how long does it take to make your confirmation?

If you want to do it, I believe the RCIA program is 2 years. But check with your church.

no, both people do not need to be confirmed. ... for example, interfaith marriages can take place in the church, but at least one of the two is the confimed Catholic. you will need a dispensation if you are interfaith (one of is not catholic)> And i was probably wrong on the baptism thing... carlsbride mentioned at least one has to be confirmed... which makes sense to me. both FH and I have all our sacraments so i never thought about asking!!!

good luck!!
