Chateau La Mer checked off all of our boxes. They were not far from the Church, they were one of the most affordable quotes we received, they catered, and most importantly, they were super accommodating with all of our eco-friendly efforts, including composting all of the food waste with a third party! Lou Young helped us from the start, but as he was out with an injury closer to our wedding, Bill Kennedy stepped in - both were great to work with! Our reception was held in the Bayview room upstairs and we had both bridal suites to ourselves. I do wish the bridal suite had a private bathroom, but luckily I managed to only need to pee once (with the help of my Bridal Buddy and three bridesmaids!) Our guests have been raving about the amazing cocktail hour and delicious dinner! Our staff was fantastic! Our Maitre D Alexandra made sure everything ran smoothly, and my Bridal Attendant, Katherine, was a trooper who was there bustling my dress even after (I later learned) she suffered a minor head injury halfway through the event! Our bartender, Gerry, was amazing and also very supportive of our efforts to use compostable paper straws and wooden stirrers for the drinks! While I was extremely pleased that Chateau La Mer accommodated our personal composting efforts for our event, I do think that in general they (and most other venues) could do a much better job in handling food waste, by both preventing it and composting it. I cannot comment on the cocktail hour because I was too busy with family photos, but I was especially disappointed with the way in which they serve the bride and groom dinner. I wish they did not serve us all of our meal options on one platter the way that they did, and would have instead taken our orders just like anyone else because the vast majority of food on that platter went to waste. Everyone knows that the bride and groom do not generally eat much at weddings, so putting that much food in front of them seems irresponsible (I literally ate one piece of chicken and a croquette). I also wish any edible leftover food could have been donated to those in need, but unfortunately the venue has a policy against doing this. I feel that it is up to all restaurants and caterers to take responsibility for their impact, and tackling the issue of food waste in such an establishment can have such a positive effect on a social and environmental level. However, overall, Chateau La Mer was the perfect venue for us on Long Island!

We had our wedding at the Chateau La Mer last June. The food, staff, bridal attendant , and maitre d' were wonderful. They allowed us to fill our room with beautiful candles, and paid close attention to all of our small details which made our large wedding feel very special and intimate.

The personnel at Chateau La Mer were helpful and responsive from day one. Our point of contact was Bill and he was there to answer any questions we had and ensured that everything ran smoothly. He went over every detail with us ahead of time so there were no surprises the day of. On the wedding day, the entire staff made sure that everything ran on time and according to schedule. The bridal attendant and bridal assistant were there with us the entire time, making sure that we had everything we needed. Golda was extremely helpful, from holding up my dress and helping me walk down the stairs to handing me drinks on the dance floor! The staff made sure that I saw the reception room setup when I arrived to ensure that the decorations were set up correctly. Every detail was perfect. The food was very good. The only thing I would say is for the sit-down meal, to make sure you tell the waiters specifically if anyone has food allergies, even if you write it ahead of time. The bartender was fast and accommodating. We had special bride and groom drinks that we came up with and he sought me out to make sure that he got it just right and adjusted it to be perfect. We had a Saturday morning to afternoon wedding and the pricing was very reasonable. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous and makes for beautiful wedding photos. Overall, I highly recommend this venue! Weddings can be very stressful to plan and having a good venue that is responsive, accommodating, and detail-oriented (and timely!) is just one less thing to worry about!

First off, thankyou Chateau La Mer team? I am so grateful to have chosen you as my forever memory. I will always remember my wedding night. They were so great at managing everyone's time and place. They made sure Rob and I had everything we needed. I was the only wedding of the day and when my plans fell through with getting ready in my hotel, Chateau took me in with open arms for my big day. They allowed me and my bridal party to get ready there at 11am even when my wedding wasn't until 5pm. Rob and I are so happy that it went so well. I thought I was going to be stressed and Chateau took that all away from me. Thankyou thankyou for your hardwork!!
