Chateau Briand vs. Inn at New Hyde Park
We went to check out both yesterday, and we liked both for different reasons. Now I'm looking online and seeing mixed reviews for the food at both places, especially Chateau Briand. Any recent brides have feedback?

I truly apologize if this comes off snobby, but there's no comparison. The inn at NHP is better by about 5 stars on just about every level. The only thing CB has going for them is their outdoor patio which isn't even accessible aside from photos and cocktail hour.

I went to a wedding at NHP and I just came from Chateau Briand to tour for myself. I prefer CB because of decor and cost. To the poster above: you can't access the outdoor patio in the winter months. We're looking at a May wedding and we're having the ceremony in their outdoor patio (weather permitting). Cocktail hour will be outdoors as well. You don't typically have a reception outdoors in warmer months - it's too hot. NHP was $189++ two years ago on a Sunday in September (I attended a wedding there and that's what the couple paid).

Honestly, I liked both. My fiancé liked CB better and I like NHP better. However, we chose CB because #1 the prices are more reasonable and we worked them down in price by $7 per person and they went down on the ceremony price. 2. The Scotto Brothers are known for having the best food. 3. We are about to utilize at least 3 rooms and have cocktail hour indoor and outdoor with a spinning piano. 4. CB rooms comes with updated chairs and furniture so you don't have to rent them. 5. My fiance' did not want alcohol but we were able to compromise and CB gave us champagne all night at no extra cost! There's one thing I do not like about CB is the lack of greenery and the DSW next door. ugh! lol but they're patio is very nice, unique and still produces great photos.
NHP was wonderful but they didn't go down in costs enough per head. However, that was my second choice.
Either way, they're both great. I guess picture yourself in each venue and see which one will compliment your style, give you what you want most and fits into your budget.
Picking my venue was the hardest decision ever! I still think about other venues but I know CB worked out better for us when I factor in everything.
