So, I went to the doctor tonight...

So, I went to the doctor tonight...

and he tells me I have a low lying placenta. If it doesn't move by the time I'm ready to give birth, I'll have to have a C-section.
Has anyone else had this??

Re: So, I went to the doctor tonight...

Thanks Tracy. Did yours move, or did you have a c-section?? My doctor said it will most likely move, but I need to hear actual people's experiences in order to feel comfortable.

Thanks Stacey. I'm 13 weeks now.

Is there anything you can do to try and move it- such as an exercise or something?
Don't worry- in the end you will still have a beautiful, healthy baby
Try some of the pregnancy chat rooms. There are a lot more women in those who have probably had this experience.

Jenn, I know you know this, but as long as the baby is healthy, a c-section aint all that bad

Don;t worry about it...my office manger has the same thing, and hers moved!! And my best friend had it, and hers moved...its not out of the ordinary and you still have a lot of time for it!! Don;t stress about it!!

Mine moved. BUT.........Unfortunatley the little bugga (Patrick) moved into breech posistion so I had a c-section anyway. He decided to do this month before he was born & there wasn't enough fluid to move him.

I always know I can count on you ladies to discuss whatever's on my mind. Thank s for all of your responses.

Michele, according to my dr. and every website and book I've checked, there's nothing I can do but wait. I WISH I could help it along!!

Anna, I know that a C-section isn't bad, but I would love to have the option of at least TRYING a 'regular' (can't say the 'v' word on here ) birth. If it comes down to me needing a C-section, I will certainly be bugging you with questions!!

Tracy, thanks so much for sharing your info. I hope you don't mind, but I may also be bugging you with questions in the future!!!

I know what you mean Jenn, I was glad I at least gave it a chance (Waited to dilate all day ). But, Hey, I AM glad I never had to push though, because that takes alot out of you, and you need that strength !

Everthing will be fine !

My GF who just gave birth w/o c-section had it at the beginning of her pregnancy, it moved up and she gave birth normally. I wish you all the best and all upward movement in your placenta

Jen- My friend had one on April 22
seems its very common now, another girl I know had one in february, they both have beautiful healthy babies, you have to stay a day or two longer in the hospital and when Jeanine came home she still looked 'pregnant' but it goes away- the swelling that is

I agree with Anna a c section is not all that bad.......and the outcome is still the same.I had one on April 11. Once you hold the baby in your arms nothing else seems to matter at all.

Tammy, everyone who gives birth looks prego for at least a week or 2 afterwards. In the maternity ward John was like 'what are all these pregnant women doing here, isnt this for when you already gave birth?' I had to tell them they DID give birth !

But its only normal, your belly is still swollen and your insides are re-adjusting themselves. Everything goes back to place, its amazing what the body can do !

Re: So, I went to the doctor tonight...

Jenn I had a LLP. It was 2.5CM from my cervix. I started to freak when my doc said it was low. The last thing I wanted was a c-section. We found out it was low at my 19 week sono. I got another sono at 32 weeks to see if it moved and it did. I was so happy... no surgery...

Emma had the cord wrapped around her neck so after 22 hours and 9 CM I wound up having a c-section anyway. And I have to agree with everyone as long as your baby is healthy and you are doing ok, it doesnt matter where the baby comes out of.

My cousin also had complete placental previa and it moved and she was able to deliver normaly.

Oh Jen, you and I have so much in common!!! When I went for my Level 2 sonogram, they told me that my placenta was low as well, and that it's common in 1/3 of the pregnancies at that point. My dr. told me that she would be sending me back for another Level 2 sonogram at 32 weeks to make sure it went up where it's supposed to be (hopefully).

As far as doing exercises to move it, I don't think there are any. It just happens on its own.

We'll just be saying those 'placenta move on up' prayers together!!!

It is totally normal to have a low lying placenta this early. Most move up in time. Hang in there!

P.S. the 'doctor' abbreviation for a v#*& delivery is NSVD (normal, spontaneous v*&^ delivery). Good for internet sensors as well
