hey .. im doing this but i havent bought anything yet.

for the bowl i'm thinking Ebay, walmart, michaels, or something like that. i'm sure it wont be hard to find. just a matter of getting a good price since i probably won't ever use it again.

the paper and envelopes - i heard you should try paper companies online. i think one was www.paperdirect.com . some of these are geared towards businesses but have good prices.

i also read yesterday that someone was considering buying those valentines day cards kids send out and using those envelopes. hey, they're cheap and now is a good time to buy them

good luck!

I had planned to do it and changed my mine at the last minute. I got the bowls from Michaels and the paper from .....oh my my head just went blank. What is that popular stationary store starts with a 'P' I believe.

Edited to say Papyrus.

I bought the envelopes/cards and bowl from Michaels. I bought small heart stamps and ink and decorated each card since they were plain white.

I also typed the instructions on my computer and printed them out on handmade paper that I also got at Michaels.

it can kinda serve as a guestbook. guests write their advice or wishes for you on the paper, put it in the envelope and then into the bowl.

you can come up with other things to write on as well. and you can choose to open them right after the wedding, or some people choose to save them til an anniversary later on.

it's just cute (like u said)

Re: For those who did/ are doing the Martha Stewart Wish Bowl

Thanks for all the help girls! I have one more question - I would like it if people would write more than their 'wishes' for us b/c I don't want 100 people to write the same thing. I thought sbout typing up instructions on nice paper, framing it, and putting it next to the wish bowl. Now my question is what else can I ask people to write? This is some ideas of what I have come up with so far:

1. Advice for the newlyweds (You should...)
2. Predictions for the newlyweds (first house, first child, ect.)
3. Favorite memory of bride/and or groom
4. What would you like the newlyweds to most remember about this day?

Any suggestions? Thanks ladies!

Re: For those who did/ are doing the Martha Stewart Wish Bowl

I got a wish bowl for Xmas, it is not the Martha Stewart one, but a beautiful Mikasa Bowl, My aunt made mini cards on the computer. for guests to write on.

I plan to leave instructions for the guests to just write from their hearts.

I just typed up the following:

Please leave us a note
Please drop us a line
with your advice on marriage
to stand the test of time.

This was printed on handmade paper, and placed on a mini-easel next to the bowl.
