July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Original post by AlisonMT

Hi all. Well, I've successfully put off doing much of anything wedding-related since the summer, and my job and classes have been so busy this semester (the reason I haven't been around on these boards) that I am trying to hold out on doing much else until around January, or at least the holidays. Do you guys think I am crazy? Here is what we've done so far:

-Picked date (7/6/03)
-Booked place for reception (Land's End)
-Booked church (Christ the King Commack...which I am discovering now may have been a HUGE mistake (see my earlier post))
-Selected bridal party
-Bought my dress
-Selected and ordered BM dresses
-Booked band (Route 66)
-Booked photographer/video (Imagine)
-Booked florist (Flower Michele)
-Started pre-Cana down here in Virginia/did Engaged Encounter weekend (what a pain!)
-Booked one of our room blocks

I feel like we're mostly in decent shape, but I'm starting to get worried now that we're less than 9 months out. I can't believe how quickly time flew. It feels like we just got engaged and were saying 'we don't have to worry, we've got 2 years!'

Anyway, I'd love to hear where all the other July brides are in the process....

Since my last post, I have booked:

Limos - All Star
Invitations - Simply Encore
Favors - Silver plated 4x6 photo albums
Veil - 2 tiered, pencil-edge trim in diamond white
Booked our flights

FH and I need to pick out our rings and I still need to book a hair stylist. My mom has found a couple of dresses she likes and I think the BM dresses will be in next month.

I still feel like I have a million things to do! 25 weeks and counting...

I thought I should update this one:

Date: July 5
Ceremony/Reception: The Tides, NJ
Band: Freilehs
Dress ordered and received, need to call seamstress
Shoes are bought, - keeping them
BMs ordered their dresses, except for 2 of them
Invitations are ordered
Photo and Video - Imagine Studios
Hair person is found - Rita, in NJ
Rabbi found - Rabbi Burt Siegel
Hotel is blocked

Now working on flowers and honeymoon. Considering making my own veil, and still need to make 2 more hairpins for a total of 6. Still need a make up person. My mom needs a dress.

And then a bunch of little other things.

I won't have limos, or rehearsal dinner.

Update:

I have
reception and ceremony site - same place

I checked out 2 florists on Monday and fell in love with one, but FI wants to talk about it before I book (it better be soon). FI is working on music (several cousins are in the wedding band business) and honeymoon.

Next up on the list are invitations, hotels, and BM dresses.

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

I just found a florist this weekend, and invites have been received, and need to be addressed.

Becky, I don't think you're behind, you just have a lot of little things (like many of us) that weren't an issue when you started planning. BTW, if you plan to send out STD cards, you either should do it ASAP or not send them at all... The timing is getting close for sending them.

Becky, you are DEFINITELY not behind...especially planning from long distance! I JUST got my STDs out (we just did letters, if that helps...I could email you a copy if you're interested) and most of the 'To Dos' on your list are the same as on mine.

Hey, are you coming out with us Thurs nite, btw? We're having the GTG in Maryland (Bethesda) so some of the Balto brides can make it too. Would love to meet you!

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Alina, I know!!!! I am starting to get a little freaked. I need to gather the addresses, which I an probably do in one day. I thought that I needed this great THEME that would run through all of the paper (invites, stds, programs, etc) and I just can't think of one, so SCREW IT How about if I get them out by next week and you keep harassing me about it so I get it done. I need to have my butt kicked in gear because I really need to send them out.

Alison, I can't make it to Bethesda thurs night. If you guys have a gtg on a weekend, I am in, but it is too much of a drive to get down there during the week. It would take me an hour and a half to get there and another hour and a half to get back. My days are too long as it is. I wish I could be there through. I miss the fine dining I enjoyed when I lived in Bethesda.

july5bride, where are you staying in Aruba?

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Becky, I'll try to remember to harass you, LOL

Meanwhile, if you dont' have current posession of all those relative addresses, get moving, b/c it took me about 2 months of nagging to get my mom to call our relatives in Israel and Germany to find out their addresses... And I am not exagerrating here either. I am still missing the Germany address, b/c supposedly now my grandma has it somewhere!!!

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

I would come to the get together if I was still down there! I used to live in Baltimore--until June of last year...

Well, since my last post I have gotten:
-save the date cards sent out
-photographer(Patken)
-veil(veishop.com)
-headpiece(Tri-County)
-going to hair makup trial tonight!
-mom is ordering dress tonight

I am also looking at different florists. Its funny cause I didn't look at another DJ or photographer, just went with the first ones! But the flower quotes I am getting seem RIDICULOUS!!! I mean the darn things are just going to die anyway, and you want me to pay how much??? I will be playing a little barganing with a few this weekend.
Also, the limos (really just want want limo bus thing so everyone is together) need to be reserved. Alot down alot to go!
