HELP!!!! I Need info on how to look up a breeder

a friend of mine at work got a dog from a breeder, and it basically was sick from day one with all kinds of congenital diseases..

it died last night... he wants to look up info on the breeder to see if there are any strikes against this breeder and such.. is there a way to do this?

I was IM'ng my friend who knows alot about this stuff her's what she said!

My Friend:You can check with the local breed clubs and if it is a person with a bad rep they will know about it

ME: color me stupid.
How do you get in touch w/ a local breed club?

My friend: thru the internet, check for that breed and it should start to give you clubs, locals usually have a link to the national club and vice versa. Also if it is an AKC recognized (YUK! don't get me started) breed they will have links
