Semi-elopment/ need an officiant?

Hi ladies I need help.

I came up with an idea this weekend that I really want to make happen. I talked to my fiancee about it and he seems to be pretty excited about it as well.

Originally, we were planning on having our ceremony and reception at TimberPoint CC. We are going to have a reverend/rabbi perform the service. We did not want to see eachother before the ceremony, which means that we would basically miss our cocktail hour b/c we would have to take pictures then.

that sounds wonderful and would be very special. Why not see if the rabbi/reverend can perfom the ceremony at your house as well??

I'm in. This was the one thing my fiance was stuck on. He had to have this. It can be made fun and not tacky (I have seen some that were horrible) We are trying to stay away from boring traditional things but somethings are just to "traditional" to get rid of. Fun music is always good - I like Glory's idea of the roses for the other girls who do not catch the bouquet. Guys get such a kick out of putting that garter up a strange girls leg (?????).

I found my dress this weekend, and the shop told me it was one of his designs, (there was no tag in the dress of course) but I can't locate a website or can I find any dresses by him.

It sounds like a lovely idea. I am sure that you could find a justice of the peace, perhaps a local village justice who could perform the civil ceremony for you. I live in Patchogue and I know that several people have gotten married in Village Hall with the village Justice presiding. You can check with your local office and see if there is anyone who can perform weddings. Best of luck.

Semi-elopment/ need an officiant?

HI!!! I love this idea. What a sweet thing to do. I am not sure of any justice of the peace but I will ask around. I know that my uncle and his wife were married in their N. Massapequa backyard and had a justice of the peace. I will ask him if he remembers his name. Hope all is well.

Any out of town guests are usually invited out of courtesy...wouldn't want them just sitting in a hotel room.

Semi-elopment/ need an officiant?

Marisol,

If you're in the Town of Brookhaven, I have the name of a WONDERFUL J.O.P. My husband & I had to find someone real quick because about 3 weeks before we got married, we received a call from the son of the reverend we chose to marry us-she had a stroke and there was no way she'd be able to perform the ceremony (talk about stress!). That day, I went to town hall for a list of officiants. Jayme was the only one listed with a website - tyetheknot.com - and she was available to travel to our site. She'll e-mail you her standard ceremony and you can change whatever you want, which is what we did (there were more than a few people in tears).

Semi-elopment/ need an officiant?

Hi Lorraine,

I didn't want to ask the rev/rabbi because I really want it to be a civil marriage including our own vows, that's it. I want the next day to be the religious ceremony.

Also, if I pick one of them over the other, that might cause a conflict between them or just an uncomfortable situtation.
