Reception Hall Suggestions - New on board
I'm new to the boards and the wedding planning. We are considering the following reception halls for a June 2006 saturday afternoon wedding (both ceremony & reception at the site): The Riviera, Swan Club, Caffe on the Green, Sand Castle and Stewart Manor. I like the idea of only one event at a time, but the deciding factor will be the price. Any suggestions or ideas. Thanks

I've only been to a wedding at the Riviera in Massapequa...and it was great. The food was in abundance and delicious...the outdoor ceremony capabilities were very pretty...outdoor CH is great too - the deck is huge. The pricing is definetly under $80 pp.

Re: Reception Hall Suggestions - New on board
I was thinking about Caffe on the Green, but never got to see it. But I have heard that their rooms are set up very weird. I think if you're having more than a certain amount, they put two rooms together, that's why.I thought the Swan Club was really pretty, but I would only do it there if I got the Camelot room which I wouldn't because I was under the minimum. I wasn't too crazy about how the Contessa room was set up.
Stewart Manor was really nice. I almost booked my wedding there, but I wanted a little more food. While they did have a lot of foods that the butler passed around, for the cocktail hour, there was only 5 hot dishes and one meat carving. That didn't seem a lot to me. But you can add on more if you want. I think I also just wanted something with a different look, but the place was really pretty.

Thanks LadiesI estimate about 130 - 150 guests. I'm not sure if that qualifies for the Camelot room at the swan club or will I end up with the Garden Room which I heard was nice also.

Re: Reception Hall Suggestions - New on board
I think the minimum for the Camelot room was either 140 or 160.I don't know what their price for Sat. afternoon will be, but it was $65 for a Friday night. Sat. night would probably be $75, but for the afternoon, it's got to be less than that.

I am getting married at the riviera and like someone said the outside is soo nice as well as the inside. the only other place I have seen is Stewart Manor and that is equally as nice but different. Riviera is on the water so it depends what you are looking for.Caffe on teh green is right across the clearview freom my house and a good friend ios getting married there in May but i have also heard teh set up is a bit odd. Good Luck!!

Welcome and congratulations on your engagement!
I'm getting married and having my reception at the Riviera. FH and I love it there. The ceremony location is nice and secluded in a pretty landscaped area overlooking the water. (Seclusion was important to me, I didn't want to see cars driving by during the ceremony.) The building is unlike your typical catering hall, it has dark wood, bricks, a high cathedral ceiling, and a medieval feel. I found it to be very warm, charming, and romantic. The staff is great, and the prices are terrific! If you have any other questions about the Riviera, feel free to FM me.
Good luck with your planning!

CONGRATS & WELCOME!!As for the halls you mentioned, I have only attended a wedding @ the Sand Castle and it was AMAZING. The food was AMAZINGLY good and the service was outstanding. It was not one wedding @ A time though-in fact there are a few that go on there @ once. I Know the North Ritz Club is similarly priced and that is one wedding @ a time. The riveria is beautiful and i have heard great things about it as well!! Good Luck!
