How much are your budgeting/spending on your
dress? If you don't mind sharing... I was budgeting $2500 for everything and now, after learning the prices of some of the gowns like, I'm worried it may not be enough.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
My dress was 1800, but I had added a longer train so that was extra.Included in the price I get the veil, headpiece and crinolin slip. I get 2 fingertip veils (one elbow and one fingertip i think) but I wanted a cathedral veil and a fingertip veil so that was a little extra.
So total it came to almost about 2500.
I have pics of my dress if you want to see them. Please FM me.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
I originally budgeted $1,500 - $2,000. My dress was a trunk show sample, so I got a great deal on it - $1100 (normally twice as much). However, it's a size 8, and I'm more like a 2, so it basically has to be completely taken apart at the seams and cut to fit me.
My poor dress. That is a major undertaking which will probably cost me another few hundred dollars. But it looks like I will still be within my budget. (I pray that it comes out okay. Did anyone else have a dress altered this much?? How did it come out??)

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
I was originally looking at a Lazaro dress that was showing between $1500-3000 on another bridal site. So knowing my luck, it would have been the $3000. I could not find this dress any where so I winding up going to a little bridal boutique in Copaigue (lidia's). I put the dress on and fell in love with it. When I checked out the price tag, my mom whispered how much and I told her $660. I think a big sigh of relief came over her. So we went in thinking the worst and came out with the best.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
My dress was $549 from David's Bridal. My veil was $65 from Patchogue Floral. I didn't wear a tiara, I had pins made, probably about $75 for the pins. My slip was about $50. Shoes were $50. I didn't wear a bra or pantyhose. Alterations on my dress were $200 - and I am about to have a battle with my seamstress over that. So for my outfit minus jewelry, we are talking around $1000.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
My Bugdet was $1500I spent $1534
Thats with taxes and alterations included ($175)
I wont have a bustle so my alterations are capped out at $175. I fought to bring the price of the dress down from $1725 to $1250. Worth every penny.
I bought my tiara & veil on ebay. actually I have 3 tiaras from ebay.. two to choose from one i've already voted no to. Total ebay cost: $50
I'll resell the unused tiaras so I should get some back from that.
I intend on getting my slip from ebay as well. My undergarments I'll get from Fredricks.
Staying in my dress budget feels GREAT!! Also lets me know i can spend money elsewhere.
ETA: Oh and got my jewelry from ebay $9 includes necklace & earrings.

My dress was $799 without tax and alterations. I got it at the Wedding Plaza in Baldwin. The veil and tiara I want is $350 combined. I figure everything should be about $1400 with shoes and undergarments.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
All the books and mags I have read say 10% of your total budget, but that includes FH's tux. Hopefully, this will be the one area to be UNDER budget. I know I prob just cursed myself for saying that but....

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
I spent more than I wanted to (originally wanted to spend 2,000-3000) but ended up spending 4100 (before alterations) on my dress - which is less than 10% of my budget - but I still need to get headpiece and veil - but honestly I don't want to spend the money on it - I am hoping to get it all for MUCH less than 300-400 if I can (but I'm still looking)

I originally budgeted $5,000 for the dress...boy was I wrong, the dress was $12,000 (we changed the design a bit and added Swarovski crystals to certain areas of the dress.)
The tiara is around $750. I still have to get shoes etc.

Re: How much are your budgeting/spending on your
Because I'm hoping to have mine custom made by a friend of FH's (he hasn't asked her yet, but I'm pretty sure she'll do it), I am not budgeting more than $500 for the cost of materials. I'm also not expecting the material to cost that much, but I will want to get the woman who makes it a really nice gift. My father said he wanted to buy my wedding gown, but I know that his budget is about the same as mine, so if I do have to purchase a gown, it will not be for much more than that, because I refuse to let my father spend a lot of money on my gown. Whatever the difference is between what he is willing to spend and what it costs, I will pay.So that was a longwinded way of me saying that I don't have a real budget, and if I have to buy my dress, I'm going to be screwed!
