We finally agree on a couch and just want to know if we should try to bargain with the price...

It never hurts to ask - just ask tell the salesperson it's more than you had planned to spend and ask if that price is the best they can do. They'll either offer something lower or tell you it's non-negotiable. If they say it's the best price, ask about sales coming up - they may do one at the same time every year that they'll let you know about.
