Anybody else like babies and infants but when they get to be like 10 they are not so adorable anymore?

I keep thinking about having kids and the thing is, I only think about them being young and fun. I forget how when everyone turns 8-11 ish we all get bratty and can be a real pain.

it honestly is affected by parenting....
one of my bm's(fh's cousin) is 12 years old, and ive known her since she was 8.. she has had great manners(please, thanks yous, etc..) and overall behavior, and i see it comes from the parenting, then i see her friends and they are out of control, pushing shoving, no manners...
i think were now in the age with full time working parents, the mothers dont stay home, the kids spend more time alone or with nanny's, the parents just come home and give the kids cell phones(one of his cousins is 9 years old now with a cellphone, for what reason? cause everyone else has them )and whatever they want.. which maybe that works for some families, but your right about what kids are turning into

I agree!!!!!!! It definately has to do with the parenting!!! My son is only 5 1/2 months old and I can ALREADY notice a difference between him and other kids his age.... We have always talked to him from Womb til now, counting, talking in english and spanish, abc's.. Even strangers a the grocery store notice the difference... Love and attention, given in proper context and as needed really make a difference... Its wild Being a mommy! The best job in the world!!!!!!!!

I used to think that babies were so cute and a lot of fun, but when they are older than 2, the fun stops. But my neice is almost 2 and is still a lot of fun. Also, one of my BMs has a 4-year-old, who I have known since birth, and I love talking to her. I know a couple of kids who are almost 8 and so far, they've been nothing but a pleasure. I agree with everyone else - it's the parenting! As a high school teacher, I see it in my students. One year, I had two classes of very studious students who were such a pleasure. When I met their parents during parent-teacher conferences, I understood why these kids were the way they were.

i think if the governement could do it... ' good parenting, resulting in well behaived kids', should deserve an extra tax break

OMG-- FH wants me to deliver an 11-year old when we have children. He has an 11 year old son now and has so much fun with him that he requested I give birth to some more 11 year ols and skip the baby years!! Me on the other hand can't wait the baby years and all the years to follow. I can't wait to take my daughter out to get a dress for her kindergarten graduation, first school dance, her prom and her wedding!

I hope I have a daughter!!! Can you tell I want one?

Thankfully, the time between infancy and 10 yrs old is a gradual process! Parenting does have a lot to do with it, and some people are just better parents than others.

A former coworker of my dad's used to say that after age 10 children should be in photographs and on the back of milk cartons til there 25.
She had a 12 year old and a 14yr old at the time. So I guess hers were not so adorable at that point in time.
However I just find the comment funny. Sometimes when I'm around children that age, I agree!! LOL!!
