Yet another question on deciding where to spend our 1st yr anniversary: some suggestions on the Bear Mtn & nearby areas?

Hi all,

It's about 6 weeks to go and we still haven't decided on where to spend our 1st wedding anniversary!

Ideally, we'd love to go to the Caribbean but it's just not happening now.

We're thinking of spending a 3 day weekend upstate at a nice B&B or hotel, near some fun activities.....but we don't want too far of a drive. Far enough to see some foliage and that's it! Someone suggested the Bear Mtn area, but I'm totally unfamiliar.

Anyone that's familiar with that area: is there a lot to do upstate? What towns/areas would you suggest we stay?

Thanks everyone

I figured that was too far - isn't that on the other side of the Catskills? How long of a drive is it?
I have heard good things about LG though :)

Any websites to share?

Hello. I went to Sugarloaf which if I remember correctly was a little north of Warwick and this is where we stayed:

I remember they had a cute, quaint little town, wineries nearby, pumpkin farms, apple picking, etc. They had some nice restaurants for dinner too. I think one was set up like an old train station.

Here is a site for warwick:

The drive isn't bad at all.

Hi Teri! Talked to my friend in that area, she said you are lucky because Navy (football) is away that weekend. She said that you wouldn't be able to find much around that weekend if they were home. But she is getting back to me with some places, I will let you know!!

definetly do a search of B&B. You could go anywhere with them. NJ, NY, etc. Waht about cape may and then hit Atlantic City. Or woodstock area or lake george

Thanks Niecey - will check that link out!

Stace - thanks again for all your help on this!

Jenny - Cape May is an idea, but I always assumed it was more of a summer town? We have NO desire to go to AC - I hate gambling We're thinking of Lake George too....!
