What are the lowest price months for a reception?
Hi, I am new here. I just got engaged and am planning to get married Oct-Nov of 04, for about 70-80 people. Some people keep telling me that these months are popular and therefore no deals are offered. I am looking for a waterview - either North or South shore. Any suggestion and help would be appreciated. Thanks.I wanted to thank everyone for their responses, you are all so helpful. I am going to start looking and will share my finds with all of you...Thanks again.

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?
Welcome! We are getting married in March, which is definitely off-season. If you are getting married in Oct/Nov 2003, you could still get some good deals since it is less than 6 months away. If vendors aren't booked already, it is unlikely that they will get a booking for your date, so they may be willing to discount.

Just wanted to say Congrats and Welcome! I believe Feb thru April are off seasons, but some places on the water have their own definition of off season. I believe my reception site, Bourne Mansion, has it's off season starting in November.

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?
We used Sunset Harbour in Patchogue. It was beautiful. We got married Sept. 27 , 2002 which was a friday. The lowest price was $45 a head for the smaller menu, we went for the large which was $55 a head with out tax and gratuity. This includes cake, ice sculpture, center pieces, 4 entrees for guests to choose from. They are a vendore here too.edited to say: When we booked it was $65 for saturday night, but because we took a friday they gave us $10 off per head.

I looked at alot of places and most of them were cheaper Nov-March...with the cheapest months being December-February.I am getting married on Oct. 12th and i can tell you i got no deals...October has become a very popular month. in fact, i am getting married at a different church because mine was totally booked!

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?
January and February are the cheapest months. We're getting married during the first half of March so our hall gave us the 'january/February rate'. Fall weddings are quite popular and will probably run you more money.

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?
I looked at 7 reception halls and they all had the same pricing policy - April through October was 'prime season' and cost more than Nov through March.
