one of my best friend's is pregnant - need ideas for a gift

She and her husband have been trying for over a year now and she is finally pregnant. She just called me and said 'Sandy, I'm having a baby.' I was in tears I was so happy for her! I really want to send her something special, but I have no idea what. Anyone have any thoughts? thanks!!

How about the book 'what to expect when expecting' or a blank journal so she can keep memories of this special time

i can't go with any books on pregnancy because she has literally read all of them over the past year!!! but i do like the blank journal idea. thanks for your suggestion.

they also have pregnancy calendars which may be a nice gift too

Maybe a gift basket for moms- put the journal in there with a cool pen, some great body lotions for stretch marks, an eye pillow, etc.

I just got a newly pregnant friend a Blisscertificate; it's not for the baby, but I figured she's appreciate it.

Plus I am totally psyched to spoil the baby. Isn't it great to have a pregnant friend? I am can't wait to be an 'aunt'.

I am not so good with pregnancy gifts, but I just bought a baby tree for my friend who just had her 1st & she loved it.... she is going to plant it at their new house!

id definately go for something like 'what to expect when expecting thing..'... maybe a nice comfy pair of slippers.. or a journal to track stuff..

I just love the idea of pampering the mommy...gifts for baby will be flying in left and right, but gifts for the mommy sometimes are overlooked.....definitely a pampering for mommy - bath salts, aroma therapy candles, a good read, a robe, manicure, pedicure, photo album to keep track of her time while she's pregnant...

If you want to do something for baby, I love the book 'The Giving Tree' by Shel Silverstein.....

You all have given me such great ideas! I am definitely giving a 'mommy' gift versus a baby gift - those will be plentiful later on. I may just go with a basket full of lots of the suggestions you gave me here. Thanks so much!
