Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

The Veneitan is the most romantic and luxorius hotel on the strip. NYNY had really rude staff but awesome beds. All the beds have feather beds.

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

We stayed at the Bellagio, and it was outrageous! We went mid week, and got a great deal. The hotel is breath taking, the service is amazing. Next to the Four Seasons, probably the nicest hotel in Vegas. If you look around, you can probably get a good price.

Wendy,
Bellagio is one of the hotels I want to look into. How is the pool there?

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

The pool at the MGM Grand is awesome. I wouldn't recommend the NEW YORK NEW YORK - the carpeting and wallpaper patterns were enough to make me nauseous! LOL!

As an alternative, if you're interested in staying somewhere that's really LOVELY and not directly on the Strip, I *highly* recommend the Lake Las Vegas Hyatt Resort and Spa. It's only 17 miles (by car) from the strip and it's got more of a golf/resort atmosphere. If you're not into gambling too much, this is the perfect place b/c you enter through a grand lobby - not a casino. DH and I stayed at this place on the weekend we got engaged, so it holds very fond memories for us.

Here's some pics, you might want to check it out:

Jeff proposed to me on one of these boats!

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

We loved Mandalay Bay!! It was beautiful. I loved the tubs!!

The only bad part is that it is the last (or first) hotel on the strip! So it is down. It is next to Excalibur and Luxor. There was a tram that connected them. My mother just came back (1st week in May) and said all the trams are down because they are trying to make one that connects all the hotels on the strip.

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

I love the Venetian. I stood there last Sept and its beautiful, also was a great experience. I will be staying there again this August and my husband bothered them so much that he was able to get the special of $119 per night. Can't wait.

We stayed at the Mirage and it was very nice. I want to try the Bellagio - I just feel in love with the dancing waters.

I like the Ventian and the Bellagio the best. They are a little more pricey. You may also want to check out paris or Mandalay Bay

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

We just booked the Mirage for the week of August 24. We wanted to stay in the middle of the action and heard that mirage has a great pool (it was 2 or 3 in the top ten on the Travel Channel's top ten vegas pools). We were torn between Mirage and Mandalay Bay (which I think was the #1 pool.)

We actually got a cheaper rate for Mirage by going through Expedia.com. Mirage was charging $159 a night, and we got $99. The Mirage folk told us that was because Expedia bought a block of rooms and could sell them at a lower price.

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

Venetion or Mandalay Bay. Venetion is romanitc and gorgeous but the Mandalay Bay is fun and has a great beach.

Re: hotel recommendations for Las Vegas

IMO:
Four Seasons and the Venetian have the best rooms, Mandalay Bay has the best pool, Bellagio is the prettiest and has the best location. I go every year for work and stay at a different place each time so I have been to most of them. I haven't been to the Palms yet but I heard good things about it.
