centerpieces at wedding I went to in NJ this weekend...

I went to FH's cousin's wedding yesterday. I loved the centerpieces! I haven't gotten the pics developed yet but will post when I do.

It was a glass vase with marbles at the bottom, filled with water, some sort of plant with natural roots in the water and a beta fish swimming around! The beta fish (or 'Japanese fighting fish') feeds off of the roots. You could take the centerpieces home but we were driving home the next day and we had a carload of people so it wouldn't work. I'm sure it's been done before but I loved it and just wanted to share.

I saw those centerpieces at a florist. I thought that they were so cool. But my mom didn't like them. She is old school. At least she was funny about it though, she said 'people might not want to order fish for dinner at the wedding with a cute fish swimming in a bowl staring at you while you eat a cousin fishy!'

LOL! She is right...for the same reason I can never order lobster at those restaurants where you pass them on the way in!

I am doinga similar centerpiece, but beta fish do not feed off of the roots, the roots also will eventually kill the fish. I have been studying for this centerpiece for months now. It is part of the theme for my wedding, when I have everything set I will post a pic also. But I can't wait to see the pics that you have.
