No train service from Penn Station

I just heard that LIRR and NJ Transit are not running due to a police investigation......

I just got back from Penn - there have been no trains in or out since 2 this afternoon. They haven't evacuated. They are only saying there is police activity and will report more info when it becomes available.

My DH was on probably the last train in to Penn and is waiting for an Amtrak train to DC.

I will post if I hear anything else.....

They are x-raying packages within Penn...they had a tip of a suspicious package. So no train service in and out until that is resolved.

you can go through Flatbush (if that convenient for you). FH works in lower man. and thats what he does (thank god!!)

Service Alert
May 20, 2003 2:45 PM
LIRR service between Penn Station and Jamaica has been temporarily suspended due to Amtrak Police activity at Penn Station. Additionally, service between Penn Station and Woodside on the Port Washington Branch is also suspended

LIRR customers can use alternate NYC Transit subway service at Penn Station, Jamaica and Woodside.

Yeah, its back on...but you know the LIRR, they couldn't be on time if there was a million dollars for each motorman at the other end of the track! This will cause problems all night!
