I think an inverted bustle goes underneath so that the skirt is even all around the bottom? But I'm not sure...

I have pics at home, I thought I had them on shutterfly but they're all before she bustled -- those are all french bustles above...

the dress laid straight at the bottom like a regular ball gown...I'll look for the after picture when I get home!

my dress laid straight at the hem - the train was all tucked underneath. The gathers you see are part of the dress, not part of the bustle (they're there with or wothout the bustle).

though my seamstress still referred to it as french - its similar to the others in that it goes underneath, but mine's underneath the hem, rather than underneath the back of the gown.
