Dreemer107 10.11.09 Wedding Review Part 2

Tran Star Limo - A
My boss actually uses the company for airport service. They had the best prices and that’s really what I was looking for. There was a bit of a mix up with my final payment which kind of scared me a little, but in the end it all worked out. Also - they failed to tell me that an extra tax had been tacked onto limousine services from the state since the time we booked the limos - so I was a little perturbed to see an extra $50 being tacked on to our final payment.
Day of service was phenomenal. My driver’s name was Tom…I’m not too sure what the 2nd limo driver’s name was though. They were at the house earlier than scheduled. All the women went in the limo with me to the RH and all of the men went with my DH. We had to pick up my MIL & SIL down the block, and Tom was nice enough to drive my father down the block as well.
When they came back to pick us up, they were patient with all of the loading up of my extra wedding stuff….and they didn’t say a single thing about us not being ready to go at 5.

DJ
Tommy Tunes – A
My mom’s coworker is an MC for Tommy Tunes, so I knew we were going to go with them to DJ the wedding. Dominick was my DJ & he did a fantastic job with keeping everyone on the floor. They played most of my must play songs, and it wasn’t until weeks after the wedding that I realized they never played the 1 song I really wanted them to play, Paradise by the Dashboard Light. But oh well, it wasn’t a big deal if I never realized it during the wedding.
There were 2 things the DJ did that weren’t planned & I really appreciated. 1 – when the candy buffet came out they played songs like “Candy Girl”, “The Candy Man”…it added a nice touch. 2 – After the wedding when the DJ was packing up, he gave DH & I a CD with the songs we chose for the ceremony & reception. It’s great that I have all of those songs in one place to remind me of my wedding day.

Cake
Black Forest Bakery A-
Black Forest is Coral House’s house bakery, so the cake was included in our wedding package. I chose to not wait until our menu meeting at the Coral House to choose my cake & went straight to the source! And I am glad I did. I was able to choose from tons and tons of designs at the bakery rather than the few designs available directly from Coral House. The only thing I had to pay for was the gluten free tier.
The cake was beautiful! It was exactly what I wanted. Everyone who was able to eat it told me it was delicious. I wish I could say the same about the gluten free tier. I really shouldn’t have expected much, considering Black Forest is not a bakery that specializes in GF desserts. That’s the only reason why they get an A-…cause it didn’t taste good at all.
Flowers
Wick’s Florist A+
Wicks Florist is actually the house florist for the Coral House and I had free centerpieces included in my wedding package. However, the free centerpieces were basic & not what I wanted.
I first met with the florist and went over what I was looking for. They showed me someone’s actual centerpiece & I was in love with it! They quoted me a terrific price for a lot of flowers.
When I went to actually book the florist, they had a sample centerpiece waiting for me and I loved it more than the sample I saw when I first met with them. They even put together a sample bouquet for me.
On the day of the wedding, the flowers looked beyond amazing! I’ve received so many compliments on the centerpieces and the choice of colors. I cant get over how beautiful my bouquet and dais flowers were. Stephanie does fantastic work!
By the way, my bo-k, my MOH bo-k & my dais flowers were all laid at my sister’s grave - and my mom said that they still looked decent for almost 2 weeks after the wedding!

Reception Hall
Coral House A+++++++++++++++++++
This was the 2nd and final place DH & I looked at. We met with Linda and were able to taste the food that same day. I have a food allergy and couldn’t try everything – but DH loved everything..especially the salmon. Dealing with them before the wedding was so easy. They answered all of my questions and they have a deposit schedule that is easy to meet (half the wedding was paid for by the 1 year mark).
On the day that we met to finalize our menu we were discussing with Linda the things that we needed for the day of the wedding. The only thing that errked me was when I mentioned the candy buffet. It almost didn’t happen. But finally, when I told her that I had discussed it with her prior to booking, she gave in (as long as the candy was as set up as possible when we dropped it off).
My sister & I dropped everything off the Monday before the wedding and the other BM (I didn’t catch his name) helped us bring everything in! They were so organized and it reassured me that all of my stuff would end up in its rightful place.
Wedding Day!
I cant thank Coral House enough for a beautiful wedding day. We got to the hall early in the morning and we were greeted by Tina (Matrie’d).
They were attentive to us, especially me and the cough I had acquired a week before the wedding!
The outdoor ceremony on Milburn Lake was beautiful. I thank goodness for my mom who complained to Nassau County parks about the state of Milburn Lake (it was heavily polluted and Coral House couldn’t do anything about it). By time the wedding came around, it was clean and gave me the back drop I always wanted for my wedding.
Tina did a fantastic job on mostly everything. Right before the cake cutting ceremony I went up to her to remind her that I am gluten free. She tripped up on telling me that she knew everything about our wedding and not to worry about the cake cutting ceremony. Lo & behold, we cut from the middle tier (regular cake I cant eat) & I feed DH. The DJ then announces that the groom will now feed the bride. Only problem is that I cant eat from that same piece of cake nor should we be cutting in the GF tier with the knife we just cut regular cake with. Oh well…guess she didn’t know everything about my wedding. Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t ruin the rest of my day in the slightest. It should make for some interesting footage on the video.
Oh yea, another thing – my GFIL (grandfather in law..haha) never received his boutinierre & no one realized it until after the wedding and we were given the extra flowers…oops!
Other than these lil things, everything went smoothly. My guests had a great time and have told me it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to. The drinks were great, food delicious, and just a great atmosphere. I would recommend that anyone on a budget look into the Coral House. I got soo much for my money.

Photography & Videography
Thomas Paul Photography A+++++++++++++
Videography – still pending…8-12 weeks to go
I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about Thomas Paul Photography. I was actually referred to him by a high school friend whose wedding pictures I fell in love with! At first I thought I’d never be able to afford such wonderful photography but I contacted Tom anyway. When Tom quoted me for the photography (w/o parent albums) & videography package – I was floored at how reasonable it was! We met with him soon after & booked with him on the spot. He was the only photographer we met with and I have no regrets whatsoever.
We first worked with Tom for our engagement photos 2 months before the wedding. I saw that they were beautiful and I had no reason to believe that my wedding pictures wouldn’t be just as wonderful.
Day of: We were lucky enough to have Tom as our main photographer & Colleen as our 2nd. We had Mike was our videographer.
Tom & Mike showed up at my house just as my hair and makeup was complete. From the second they entered the door, they were working. They steadily got the pictures they needed at the house and then left to meet us at the Coral House.
Everything about the photography went so smoothly throughout the whole wedding. I know everyone says this, but it’s true – we could barely tell that they were there. There are so many pictures I had no idea were taken while we were dancing.
As for all for the posed pictures, whatever Tom suggested, we went along with…and I’m thrilled we did. Those are some of my favorite pictures.
As a side note, we got back from our HM on a Wednesday & my physical proofs were ready for pickup on Saturday!
Thank you Tom & Colleen – you both did a fantastic job!
