My 10/10/2009 Wedding - LIC Church, 5 Pointz, Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge

Sorry for the mess guys .. I'm kinda new to this .. so please bear with me .. thanks

We also have a wedding website designed by the groom - now my husband. Please check it out.

Red Carpet Photo Booth - A+++++
www.redcarpetphotosnaps.com

This was a big hit during our wedding! We wanted to have guests have their photos taken but thought that a photobooth was too common and may change the elegant ambience of the occasion. Then, we found out about Red Carpet Photo Snaps. They make a customized backdrop with the couple's logo and put them up as a backdrop similar to what you see on red carpet events. They bring in this backdrop together with a carpet, softbox, camera, computer and printer. They include a professional photographer that takes photos and a printing specialist that prints the photos taken. They have 3 and 4 hour packages and so we got the 4 hour package for the whole dinner. They took photos and printed them unlimited for 4 hours!!! Everyone was raving about it and they all loved their pictures!

Engagement Photos by Wayne Yuan and Angela Lee - A+
www.wayneyuan.com

We enjoyed this shoot so much. We did the photos in the meatpacking district at around 5pm. It was the perfect time of the day to shoot photos in the city. Angela Lee + Wayne Yuan = perfect pair to shoot rocking engagement photos .. Hope you guys like it as much as we do .. c',)

Bachelorette Party - Lucky Cheng's and USA Hunk - A+++

It was a fun but wholesome night! Enough said! lolz

Wayne Yuan - A
www.wayneyuan.com

Wayne Yuan and Angela Lee gave us great pictures and were very fun to work with. They were a perfect fit for us because we are a non-traditional couple who like non-traditional stuff. The only thing that we regretted that day was that we didn't take as much pictures with the wedding party as we wanted. We understand though as we were pressed for time and had to go back to the hotel for the reception. They were very professional and the quality of their work is exceptional.

Re: My 10/10/2009 Wedding - LIC Church, 5 Pointz, Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge

DIY (with a lot of help from a lot of people)

2 cherry blossom looking trees

Since the church where we had the ceremony was small, I had to think of a ceremony decor that would not overcrowd the aisles but would still give maximum impact in a simple way. What better way to do this than to bring in two trees.

I tried to get a quote from the florist as to how much two cherry blossom looking trees with cost. I was surprised to find out they cost at least $2,000 for each tree. This would bring our total bill to $4,000 for two trees. In the end, this was very laborious but it cost me half to make it which saved me $2,000. I'm trying to sell these two trees without the hydrangeas (you have to get fresh ones for the day itself or buy silk ones). Contact me if you're interested.

We custom designed two cherry blossom looking trees.

They were each made of about thirty 6 ft high mt. laurel branches wrapped around a painted pole. Each tree had 200 white hydrangeas individually cut and immersed in randomly placed floral water tubes. Lastly, each tree was lit with 10 xenon lights .. they light up the branches and flowers from under to finish the look. We used this during the ceremony and transferred it to the reception hall

had 3 pairs of shoes for the big day -- i know it's crazy -- but i wanted to make sure my feet were comfortable

Flower Girl Dress - Cecilio Abad Couture - Philippines

I loved the dresses of my flower girls. First of, it's not white. Most of the flower girl dresses in the stores are white. Second, it's styled very differently from the usual flower girl dresses. Third, it was custom made for them. The coutourier had to take their measurements and start from there. I wanted them to wear something cute and pretty and I think we got it with the dresses they wore.

Re: My 10/10/2009 Wedding - LIC Church, 5 Pointz, Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge

part vendor, part DIY

we had designed these wedding invitations and had them custom made ...

Red Box - 7.5' x 10.25' custom-designed box made of red dupioni silk and chinese buttons; the top of the box was padded

Portfolio - 7' x 10' custom-designed portfolio invite made of plush brown velvet fabric; the front of this portfolio displays our simple but chic monogram embroidered with champagne thread; the cover of the portfolio was also padded

Main Invite - the ceremony invite is a 6.75' x 9.75' white gold scented 250 gsm paper, it is attached on the left hand side of the portfolio invite when it is opened; the message on the invite was embossed through a process called thermography (brown ink was used)

Entourage Card - the entourage card is a 6.75' x 9.75' white gold scented 250 gsm paper, it is a loose attachment that could be found tucked in a pocket on the right hand side of the portfolio invite when it is opened; the message on the invite was embossed through a process called thermography (brown ink was used); it had to go through the printing process twice - the first was to slightly emboss the light brown watermark and the second was for the reception wording

Reception Invite - the reception invite is a 5.75' x 9.75' white gold scented 250 gsm paper, it is a loose attachment that could be found tucked in a pocket on the right hand side of the portfolio invite when it is opened; the message on the invite was embossed through a process called thermography (brown ink was used)

RSVP Card - the RSVP card is a 3' x 4' white gold scented 250 gsm paper, it is a loose attachment that could be found tucked in a pocket on the right hand side of the portfolio invite when it is opened; the message on the invite was embossed through a process called thermography (brown ink was used)

RSVP Reply Envelope - it is a 120 gsm white gold envelope with our address printed on it

Gold chain - this is made of flexible gold material braided and attached to the chinese buttons to hold the addressee card in place

The Karat Shop - A

They were very helpful during our wedding ring hunting. They were very reasonably priced and the quality of the diamonds and the rings themselves were superb!

love pave diamonds and so we put a lot of them when we designed my wedding ring .. this complements my engagement ring so well but i can't wear both of them on one finger .. my engagement ring now resides on my right hand ring finger ..

jayr doesn't like wearing diamonds and wanted to wear something solid, simple but unique and that's what we exactly got for him

two rings that symbolize our unity yet symbolize our uniqueness as well .. c',)

Flower Michele - B+

Bride's Bouquet - white cymbidium orchids with two Rhinestone Trims (5 rows crystal & silver)

Bridesmaids' Bouquets - pink calla lilies with pink cymbidium orchids

I would have rated them higher had they straightened out how they placed the rhinestone trim I gave them to put on my bouquet. We also ordered a toss bouquet which they said they gave to a staff member at the hotel but never appeared during the reception. Flowers were lovely though.

Make up by Jacqueline Nicole (www.prettyme.com) - A

Before I contracted Jacqueline Nicole for my wedding, I had a make-up trial with Jill Harth. Jill Harth was good (I was expecting to be blown away, but didn't) but her trial price of $150 and the day of price of $400 was just so much more than what she delivers. Therefore, after paying $150 for my trial with her, I decided to do another trial with another make-up artist - Jacqueline Nicole. She was very nice and listens to what you want.

Jacqueline Nicole is the sweetest make-up artist you could ever have. She's very skilled and came in on time during my wedding. She doesn't need a minimum no. of people for an event and so that worked out for me because none of my bridesmaids wanted to have their make up done. Her price was very reasonable. She was also very nice during the make up trial.

DIY

i've always loved to do things differently and i didn't make an exception with the things that had to be carried by our ring bearers and flower girls ..

Flower Ring Box - instead of getting the traditional pillow, we opted for something a little different - this was custom designed with 1.5' thick styrofoam, brown & pink ribbons, and fresh fuschia mums individually secured by straight pins with pink heads

Flower Bags - this was made in case of a tantrum emergency - it was custom designed with a 1.5' thick styrofoam, hot pink silk flowers, a bamboo handle and 2 medallions (front and back)

Re: My 10/10/2009 Wedding - LIC Church, 5 Pointz, Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge

DIY

Escort Cards, Escort Card Boards and Table Numbers

I was looking for cooler ways of doing the escort cards and thought about doing a board instead of the usual cards on a table.

To do the cards, I used black cardstock and gold paper I bought from Staples (M by Staples). I designed the artwork by hand and had the groom put it on photoshop so I could print on the gold paper. I bought the 2.5' circle punch from Michael's and punched circles on the gold paper after printing on them. I attached them to the black cardstock I cut using roll-on glue tape.

To make the boards (I made two), I purchased a 2 ft x 4 ft plywood from Home Depot. I also purchased foam/batting and the fabric from Joann's Fabric and covered this plywood with the fabric. I put the foam/batting in between the plywood and the fabric so there's a little dimension to the board. I used a staple gun on the back of the board to secure the fabric to the board. I then bought 1' black ribbons from the dollar store and cut up twelve 2.5 ft of it for each board. I folded 1/3 of the ribbon so I could have pocket for the cards. I ironed the fold and then glued the folded ribbon on the fabric. I then had my brother create a stand for it.

I had the groom design the table no. and printed them on the same gold paper (M by Staples) that the escort cards were printed on. I bought the clear picture frames from Target for $2 each. I decided on not doing something elaborate for the frame because I thought there would be too much focus points on the table and I really wanted the centerpiece to stand out.

Photo Billboard (guests sign on the board) - this was really awesome!

Cake

Alpine Bake Shoppe (included in the Hyatt Package) + Wedded Glitz - A

I was not in love with the choices they gave me for the wedding cakes and I kept sending them pictures of cakes I love. They quoted my very high prices for all the cakes I sent them. All I really wanted was a simple elegant cake without paying too much for it. It was very frustrating! I finally decided to use one of the choices they gave and stripped it off everything I thought was ugly (almost everything). I told them take off everything and I will supply them with rhinestone trims I bought from www.weddedglitz.com. They were very accommodating and nice. All we had to do was deliver the rhinestones a day before the wedding and they put them on the cake.

Also, I wanted to have a simple but elegant looking base which they do not have. I therefore, bought a 3/8' thick tabletop from dial-a-glass and had the groom's dad make a base for it out of aluminum material.
