NWQOTD 11/21
Ok ladies since Thanksgiving is almost here I figured I would get us even more excited!! This is a two parter...1. What are you thankful for this year. Did it change since last year? Anything new?
2. What is your favorite Thanksgiving Tradition? Or, food to eat?

For me I am thankful for my wonderful husband and our health. We both have had some health issues in the past (especially DH) and I m aso glad we are in tip top shape! I am thankful for amazing friends and family and that I have a job.
My favorite tradition is actually one involving xmas! On Turkey day, we take our tree down from the attic and set it up to make sure all the branches are spread and the lights work...the next day we decorate the tree and the condo while listening to Christmas music and lighting christmas cookie candles! So fun!!

This year, I am thankful for my absolutely amazing husband. He's the best . Love him more & more everyday. I am also thankful for my family & his, my job and the wonderful friends I have made through liwedding. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition every year is the amt of food there are to eat at both houses (mine & DH). Also, we always go shopping the day after . We love the crowd.

Re: NWQOTD 11/21
this year i am thankful to be having a very healthy and 'easy' pregnancy!! we all know that labor and motherhood won't be as easy! so i'm glad she's being nice to me now!!!!my FAV tradition is one that sadly hasn't been the same for a couple of years since my sisters and i haven't had dinner together we just do dessert... but we call it 'button time'. its the point where you've already had a HUGE first helping, and you are so full that you must undo your jean buttons and have a nother plate full!
my cousins used to get a kick out of it too.. i can't do it this year b/c all my pants have elastic waist bands!! HAHA
ETA: another tradition is the day after thanksgiving we go to see my dad's side of the family, where we pick names for our secret santa and watch the video of the prior years secret santa gifts!! sooo much fun!

Re: NWQOTD 11/21
I am thankful for everything. For life, love, health, great friends and an even better family.Every year on thanksgiving i get together with just my immediate family.. We eat dinner all day and then when we feel like we are going to burst we all cuddle up on the couch and watch Christmas Vacation. We do it every single year, its easily one of my favorite family & holiday traditions. Can't wait!

I'm thankful for my awesome husband and am so lucky to have great family and friends too. I'm also thankful that I'm about 90% done with our TY cards.
My fav tradition is eating like a savage (at two different houses!) and we're doing that again this year... although instead of my moms side and my dads side it'll be my dad's side and DH's side.

Re: NWQOTD 11/21
lol eating like a savage!!i am most thankful for my family. my dad has cancer and is going through chemo and it's been so hard, but it has made us all even closer, and although i didn't have the greatest relationship with my dad growing up, since he's been sick that all went out the window and the whole relationship has changed. I'm thankful for the newest addition to my family, my amazing DH.
as for traditions, I LOVE STUFFING. it's a family recipe that i'm totally obsessed with. best i have ever tasted. I should post it on here.

I am thankful for the fact that FIL is still hanging in there and that he made it to our wedding. I am thankful to have DH and that we have this beautiful house and a loving relationship. And I am thankful for my puppy, but also for the fact that my family dog Cookie seems to be hanging in there, though I worry about her every day.Traditions - I love cooking with my mom while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... though that hasn't happened in a few years because we went to Florida instead which became my new favorite tradition. This year I am not doing either because we are going to my MIL's.
Favorite Food - my mom's corn souffle (in recipe book), mashed potatoes, mom's amazing stuffing, and cranberry sauce with strawberries mixed in. I am making the corn souffle and cranberry sauce to bring to MILs. My mom made the stuffing last week since I wouldn't get it on Thanksgiving.
Also blueberry pie... I hate pumpkin pie and apple pie so my mom always had blueberry pie, which I know MIL will not have.

Ok ladies since Thanksgiving is almost here I figured I would get us even more excited!! This is a two parter...
1. What are you thankful for this year. Did it change since last year? Anything new?
2. What is your favorite Thanksgiving Tradition? Or, food to eat?
1. I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband - one who loves me & supports me - even through the tough financial times we've been going through since I lost my job in June. I am thankful that I am healthy - last year at this time I was recovering from encephalitis that I had to be hospitalized for & then had complications from a spinal tap. Then last Nov went for endoscopy to only find I had ulcers in my stomach b/c of the too strong pain meds that ER Dr had given me...ugh...still on med's for that - but at least my daily overbearing headaches are for the most a thing of the past.
(I am hoping to be thankful for a job before Christmas!!!)
I am thankful for my family - for had it not been for them it probably would have been another 2 or 3 years before DH & I would have been able to afford to get married. My parents & brother especially gave so much for our wedding every time I think about it, I get all emotional.
I am also thankful for the few good friends that Ive had for ages - the ones where you dont talk to every day - but have known for years & even w/the hustle & bustle of life - that you can call up after a month or 3 & pick up right where you left off.
And lastly I am thankful for my new 'family' of friends here at LIW. I truly wish I had known about this site when I got engaged in Dec, b/c I would have had more time to get to know all of you even better. But in the past 3 months - I have experienced friendship & kindness on a whole new & amazing level from you ladies...I am grateful beyond words for your friendship, your kindness & just your willingness to accept me into your group & your lives. I have honestly never been so touched by a group of strangers before, so thank you.
2. Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition:
for the past few years it has been that DH & I now host Thanksgiving at our home & I love that. It has been the real 'turning point' in my life where I felt like - now Im really a grown-up. This year it's our 1st married Thanksgiving & Im so excited b/c I have all new china, stemware & flatware to use for our table (for that I am thankful too).
one other tradition that has started w/ me & my mom since I was very young was to always do Black Friday at the mall(s). I know it's crazy sometimes - but we always make a day out of it - go shopping, do lunch, do some more shopping & just have some real one-on-one mother-daughter time.
Generally the Sat or Sun after Thanksgiving - (pending on DH's work schedule) we go buy our tree from local fire dept - put it up, decorate it while listening to Christmas music, start a fire in the fireplace & have hot cocoa & watch Christmas Vacation & Rudolph. Usually the day after we do that I will start baking some Christmas cookies - the past 2 years DH has gotten involved when it comes to doing the cut out kind - he likes cutting them out & putting the sprinkles on them (it's too cute!)

Re: NWQOTD 11/21
1. I am so thankful this year for our little baby bean. I can't believe next Thanksgiving we will have a 5 month old baby at the table with us. Also,DH is in the final weeks of his police academy, and will be graduating Dec 11th. He has worked so hard since the first day June 5th, and was away for three months this summer in GA. I am just glad to have him back home, and that he has done so well. It is a really exciting time for us.2. I love to get up early and watch the parade in my pj's. It reminds me of being a little kid watching the parade, while my mom ran around cooking like a mad woman. My favorite Thanksgiving food is the cranberries. The real kind you cook on the stove, not the goo that comes in a can. The weekend after Thanksgiving DH & I always go and cut down our own tree.

Re: NWQOTD 11/21
that's such a nice question!i'm thankful for so much. on the top of my list is that my mom seems to be recovering from this viral heart infection. i pray every day that her heart will heal without any surgery. but for right now that she feels happy and healthy and strong. and so then for our healthy, happiness, my new husband and our growing friendship and love... friends... i'm just feeling all mushy these days.
fave tradition: well, actually, so many of our traditions have disappeared over the past several years since my grandma passed away and so many people are moving away and not coming back for the holidays :o(...but definitely for helping my mom to cook the thanksgiving dinner because we always have so much fun!!! ALSO brian and i have decided to start some new traditions which include the day after thanksgiving to begin christmas decorating and listening to christmas music immediately!! :o)

Every year, on thanksgiving we look through all the black friday flyers and we decide if we are going to venture out or not... well actually i am the one that will go...but regardless every black friday, we begin to decorate!! Dh brings in all the holiday bins from the garage and I play christmas music and out on christmas in disney world while I decorate the inside and he decorates the outside!!
it takes me all weekend to decorate!!
