Center for Endometriosis Care
I know it's a long shot, but just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Center for Endometriosis Care.I have Stage IV endo (had laparatomy to remove endometriomas about 7 years ago). I sent the CEC my medical records and they confirmed with me today that I am a candidate for surgery there. Based on their review of my records, they think the prior surgeon removed only the endometriomas, but left the rest of the disease.
They seem very knowledgeable about endo and say they have a high success rate. The idea of going so far from home for surgery is a little scary, though. It would also be out of network on my insurance.
TIA

Re: Center for Endometriosis Care
I have not had any exp w/them specifically, but I can tell you I had endometriosis back in 2001 - my left ovary was 75% covered & causing excruciating pain & had labroscopic surgery for it at Southhampton hospital. I was then referred to a reproductive endocrinologist that is affiliated & located right @ North Shore Hospital. He had warned me about having a 2nd surgery before having children as it may permanently ruin my chances of ever having children. So as of yet - I still have not gone for a 2nd surgery. I havent seen the doctor since I moved upstate 5 years ago - it's hard to find really good doctors upstate. But I know eventually I will have to have this 2nd surgery b/c the pain I get sometimes on both my left & right ovaries can knock me for a loop.I know this probably doesnt help you much - but just wanted to share & let you know you're not alone.

Re: Center for Endometriosis Care
I'm sorry you're dealing with this, too! It's so difficult to find good endo doctors anywhere and then you always feel like you're darned if you do and darned if you don't. I've been told without surgery the endo can progress, causing infertility, and now I hear that a surgery can do the same.Seriously, though, they can come up with Viagra, but have yet to find a way (short of surgery) to diagnose or treat this disease.
