any ideas what this could be?

Ive been having pain in my mouth for the last week and its driving me crazy...

it kinda feels like i went to the dentist and they had my mouth pryed open for too long and its sore! its just on the right side all the way on the side...
either that or it feels like i got punched in the face, but ive never gotten punched in the face so i really dont know what that would feel like, but i could imagine it would be similar... lol

it hurts when i open my mouth too big (DH just suggests for me to stop talking!! lol haha) lol it hurts when i yawn too, and when i chew

Im thinking it could be a couple things, maybe i just pulled something in my jaw (from talking too much as DH would say)
maybe its coming from my tooth and i should go to the dentist (ive already had my wisdom teeth taken out and it really doesnt feel like a tooth thats bothering me...
or maybe its caused from an ear infection...im not having any pain in my ear really just when i open my mouth the pain shoots up to my ear....

I dunno..any idea what else you might think it could be!
i hate going to the doctor more than anything so im trying to self diagnose myself and have it fixed! lol last time i thought i had an ear infection they told me i didnt sooooo i refuse to go and have the same thing happen...

wow i guess i type as much as i talk! lol this could have been a lot shorter!

i used to be a dental asst and to me.and im no expert it sounds like maybe you could have tmj

do you grind or clench you teeth when you sleep?

i mean it could also be a million other things but i woud suggest going to the dentist...coud be a infection in a tooth..or yor right it coud be a ear infection

is it possible that i do it without knowing?
someone else said it might be TMJ too!

hmmmm i guess i really should go to the dentist im pretty sure im due for a cleaning anyways...

OMG, I had that once a few months ago. Lasted about a week or two, then it went away. It literally felt like I got punched in the mouth. One one side only for you? It hurt sooooo bad when I opened my mouth too wide. In fact, I couldn't eat things that required me to open my mouth too wide.

But like I said...it went away in about a week or so...haven't felt it since. I thought maybe something happened in my sleep or something..who knows! I hope you feel better soon!

You could be doing it in your sleep and not even realize it!!

It could be...

TMJ

An absess or infection under the gum causing the jaw to swell (I had this, does it throb if you press it?)

A tooth with a cavity that got infected...


I would go to the docs just incase. <3

by any chance did you get a flu shot lately?

b/c i got the h1n1 and i actually when to the ER last night b/c of pain in the jaw....they said that it could happen....

nope i havent had a flew, shot...

it doesnt really hurt when i press on it! just when i open it too much or chew
unfortunally tho its not stopping me from eating! lol

im going to wait another few days then my first step is going to the dentist, cuz im due for a cleaning soon anyways.
