A GIRL!

I am totally thrilled that our kids will be close in age.

Our other good friend has a 6 month old daughter, so we are hoping all 3 kids will be close.

Okay moms... I'm going to the hospital today... WHAT SHOULD I BRING???? I want to make it something they will really appreciate. Did anyone bring you anything that REALLY stood out?
I already have a 6 pack of Pepsi on ice (the new mommy is a HUGE soda freak, and missed it throughout the pregnancy), but what else???

hmm, maybe a manicure/pedicure gift certificate? (with like a bottle of nailpolish to go with it in the bag??)
You REALLY need a MOMMY day/afternoon like a month or 2 afterwards...(and one, once a month thereafter, LOL)

I like the idea of a mani/pedi GC! That's what I gave my gf when she had her daughter! She was thrilled!!

Not to sound selfish (well the last thing you are is selfish once you have a baby, you CANT be) LOL, BUT the one gift that was so 'different' to me was one of the things that I got as a 'for the mommy GIFT'. Johns cousin got me the little shoe pendant, with a little flower in light blue stone (dont know the stone) on it, its gorgeous. that with a chain in white gold..
when i got it i was like 'for ME ????????????????

It was a nice feeling, I was so touched

so something like that is also very special, but it might be more personal too. I never thought of it coming from her, i dont know her that well, as far as having spent time with her, I would think that more immediate family would get that, but the fact that she went out and thought about that, touched me even more (since she barely knows me)...

I cant say what to bring to the hospital (although my SIL brought me a box of chocolates and mmmmmmmmm, those were a great choice) but I will highly suggest making a meal one night with all the fixins and bringing it over. I never thought of it before I had the baby but now that I have had one, I will do that for the future Moms in my life. It's a great thing to do for new and overwhelmed parents who can forget to eat themselves. Important! and especially especially important for BF Moms to keep their intake high for the baby.

My BF is preggo now, due the same week as me & I'm so happy that our kids will be close!

As for the new Mom, I like the idea of a gift just for her, too. I sent a basket to 2 of my friends when they had their babies with pampering items .... lotions, bath pillow, & a GC for a mani/pedi! It got rave reviews!
