10'er crashing..were any of your invites hand delivered??
is it really that bad if some arent mailed?the reason i ask is because i had problems w/my invitation sample. I mailed it to myself last week and paid $1.22, had them hand cancel, etc... The invite is a pocketfold w/a huge bow in the middle...the bow must have gottten stuck in a sorter and the invite got really bent and sort of ruined..
i went to the post office today and asked for an alternative solution...they suggested sending the invite as parcel..so it could go through a larger slot...but each invite is $1.39
who's really keeping track of etiquette if i send them via post or if i deliver them?
hmmm

I hand delivered to my parents and sister (same household), my nana (lives up the street), and my coworkers. The only ones that can be considered 'bad' by etiquette were my coworkers, but ehhh, they didn't seem to be offended, they're all coming!

I dont think there is anything wrong with hand delivering to those who live close, and close family. Save yourself a little money on postage

Re: 10'er crashing..were any of your invites hand delivered??
I hand-delivered about 5 of them -- coworkers and b-lists mostly.I also hand-delivered a thank you to a friend who just moved who I went to visit in DC the day after I wrote her TY.
Do what works for you. I don't think family would really mind one bit. If anything, they'll get the invites faster and in better condition.

I didnt hand deliver any. Could you put them in a box? I know it will bring up the cost of your postage though. So you might be better off doing the parcel size after all.

Do it like they do on Super Sweet 16 and have a creative way of hand delivering them.
In all seriousness though, I don't know if there is anything wrong with this. I wouldn't think so.

Re: 10'er crashing..were any of your invites hand delivered??
I hand delivered them to my coworkers. I did the same thing you do (mailed one to myself). It came back bent. The envelope looked like it went through a war. I didn't have a bow on mine, but it was a pocketfold. I was too worried about the invitations coming back so I slapped another stamp on. What's another 40 bucks, right? I looked at my parents invite...it wasn't perfect, but much better than I thought it would be. My MOH also said the same thing...Not perfect, but close.

I didn't hand deliver any, but I don't see any reason why that would look bad either. It actually gives it more of a personal touch!

Re: 10'er crashing..were any of your invites hand delivered??
It is a family tradition to hand deliver the invitation to my grandmother, she likes to fill out the response on the spot and be the first one, so she would have been insulted if i didnt hand deliver. I took one evening and delivered about 40 of my invites, I have one of those big familes that all live near by so it only took about 2 hours lol, a lot of people did not realize I even hand delivered them because I just put them in people's mailbox's so I would not stop and talk to the whole world. (People didn't even realize there was no stamp?!)Long story short no one was offended, if anything they felt more important.

Re: 10'er crashing..were any of your invites hand delivered??
I did not hand deliver any of my invitations BUT my grandma did tell me that when she got married in 1944 the only proper way to give a wedding invitation was to hand deliver them. So be old school and hand deliver some if you want to
