Engagement Announcements??

Did anyone send out engagement accouncements? I was wondering how common that was to do so and if you put your wedding date on there as well? and where did you go for the best prices? online? store?

we had an e-peaty so didnt send out engagement announcements..... we plan on doing save the dates in the summer!

we didn't send announcements... pretty much everyone who we would be inviting to the wedding knew we got engaged so there wasn't a point

I sent out announcements to the family members that were not invited to the e party

We had an e-party and we handed out our save the dates there with just 'Jason & Jessica are getting married' with the wedding date (and picture of course)

We didn't do Announcements because apparently most of our closest friends knew before I did.

We will be sending out STD though to everyone even though they know the date

We didnt send announcements but our engagement party invitations did it for us. The wording of the invitation was key..

Hey,

WE decided right away not to have a party, we wanted to reserve the money for the wedding and there weren't a lot of people who would be able to come, so we wanted to send out announcements instead and send STD's later.

I looked EVERYWHERE for announcements that weren't too kitchy, that we could incoporate a photo of the two of us, and that weren't too invitation-y. (FH found a really ugly one and I refused to send it... he got so mad, lol)

FINALLY, on Shesaidyesannouncements.com, I found really nice items that could be free formed so even if they were formatted for STD's you could erase that and put whatever you want on them

Check out my album for how they turned out. We were really happy with them and the price was great.

ETA: embedded photos so you don't have to look in my album... I try to make things easy

ETA 2: WE purposely did NOT put our wedding date ont he announcement even though we were already bookd because we didn't want this to be an STD. WE wanted to send out STDS closer to the wedding (and after we got pro pics done once we figure out a photog) so it actually acts as a notification. If you send them too early, people forget. We didn't want the engagement announcement to ruin the STD, therefore 1)amateur photo and 2) NO DATE.

if we do ecide to send them out I will definitely check out that site! I don't want my STD's to be sent out too early either, but I wanted my OOT family and others that I don't speak to on an everyday basis to know about the engagement and I figured announcements were the way to go for that. I totally agree about the point of sending the STD's out too early then people forget!
