So people thought I was crazy..........

because I took my dress to the laundry mat and WASHED it!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I washed my wedding dress in the biggest machine they had on the gentle cycle and believe it or not but my dress is sooo much cleaner now and is NOT Damaged AT ALL!!!!. I did a trash the dress shoot last friday and it got even more filthy than on the wedding day. I didnt want to dry clean it since I plan on doing a trash the dress for our anniversary next year so I said to myself why not!!! I even dried it in a dryer on delicate and it looks and smells soooo much better. The laundromat lady said I was crazy but I told her that I have no intentions on preserving my dress and when I am done with it next year I plan on cutting it up and making a blanket, pillow and handerchief for our kids. She said good idea. FMIL can sew so it will be perfect. I may make the top a bustier, but who knows. I know I dont want to keep it.

I am soooo tempted to do that with mine... I know I'll never end up taking to the cleaners and I'll at least feel better knowing that it's sitting in my closet clean instead of covered in mud!

I had a lot of embroidery and beading on mine and nothing happened. If you wash it on gentle it just swishes around and its not too harsh on the dress.

I wanted to do this too...but then wondered if the dry cleaners would give me a discount b.c I still want it boxed. So I figured I'll just wait. But we have the same dress maker and they told me numerous times that you could wash our dresses in the washing machine.
