Different dresses for BMs

I would like for my BMs to choose their own dresses. I am thinking of selecting the designer and color, and then my BMs can pick whatever style dress they like for themselves.

The only thing is that I have never seen this done before. Has anyone done this or seen pics of this? Would it look funny if some of my BMs choose tea length dresses and others chose gowns? Or can I pull it off as long as the color is the same?

Thanks for your help girls!

Re: Different dresses for BMs

I only had 2 girls...but they both had Jasmine B2 dresses, same fabric, same color- different styles (whichever they were most comfy in)

Re: Different dresses for BMs

Honestly, I'd still have them all pick the same length. You can definitely go for different style dresses, but I still think they should all be the same length.

Here's a pic from a friend's wedding in July:

Re: Different dresses for BMs

All of my girls are doing the same color, same length and the same fabric but whatever dress they want. Especially sine the dresses are somewhat costly, I figure give them the opportunity to buy a dress they'll wear again.

This is what I'm doing. I have 5 girls and they're all choosing their own style. They are all going to be chiffon tea length (except MOH who will be in floor length) in black, but any style from any of the Jasmine lines is fine by me.

Re: Different dresses for BMs

i was totally going to do this.... i knew the color, material and designer, etc and was just going to request that they all have full legnth. funny things is most of my girls were picking the same dress anyway, which happened to be my favorite so we decided to just have them all get that one anyway!!!
I think it looks nice... and i thought it would be good to do that since i had so many body types so everyone could have picked what they were comfortable in!

Re: Different dresses for BMs

My BMs are doing this. I gave them the length, designer, and color. All my girls have different body types and I wanted them to be comfortable. Dresses are also expensive and I'm glad that they can wear it again since they are spending $$ on it. I decided on asking them to wear the long length because we're having a 'black tie optional' affair and I figured the BMs set the tone of the wedding (we're doing the black tie optional because we're scared that people will show up with dress pants and a polo...this will stop that). Anyway, I like the different dresses because the girls get to show off their personalities as well. It's GREAT! run it by your BMs, they might love it or they might all find a dress they all love.

Re: Different dresses for BMs

I'm doing the same thing... It will look Fine!... I have an issue with making my bm's pay for a dress that they dont like or something they can not wear again-just me! As long as its the same color and material... I'm really flexible... but i think it will look pretty

Re: Different dresses for BMs

My MOH had us all in different dresses, sorry don't have any pics of the entire bp party.

I gave my girls the option of choosing their own dresses and they actually chose the same dress; my 2 MOH's will be in different dresses.

Thanks everyone! The pictures were fantastic. I think I really prefer this.

Elisa, you choose some Alfred Angelo dresses I had really liked. Chiffon fabric is my favorite!

Re: Different dresses for BMs

I hope this works - here are three of us from my friend's wedding in September - there were 3 other bms in these same styles. It was nice because we all got show a little bit of our personality this way.

Also check out 'two birds' bm dresses - they are SO cool. I would have seriously considered these if they weren't so $$. Actually, a guest wore her two birds dress to the same wedding - its totally re-wearable. GL!

Re: Different dresses for BMs

After having been a BM 7x, I know the feeling of having dresses you will never wear.

All I did was pick out the color. I wanted them to get the same dress, but I told them to pick whatever dress they wanted, felt comfortable in and could afford, as long as it was the same color.

My other sister is the MOH, and her dress might be different, though.

If they all liked different dresses, I really wouldn't have cared. I would like them all the same, but honestly, I want them to feel OK in a dress they like. Thankfully, they both liked the same dress, so it worked out.
