Italy hotel recommendations!

We're planning to go to Italy for our honeymoon and need hotel recommendations for Florence, Rome, and Capri.

Thanks!

Re: Italy hotel recommendations!

Hi! I studied abroad in Florence years ago. I can't tell you names of hotels, however I can tell you areas. You really want to stay in the city center. I don't recommend staying near the train station (Santa Maria Novella area). It may be more convenient, but it's gotten a little shady. Anything around Piazza Signorie, Piazza Del Duomo, Piazza Della Republica is nice. And you don't have to stay in an expensive 5 start hotel. The 'pensiones' are very nice in Italy, and homier, in my opinion.
A really, really good place to eat is a restaurant called 'IL Latini' You can look it up in most travel guides now. You have to call up for reservations and then show up before they even open and wait. It is so worth the wait. The last time I was there, we paid about I guess it was $60 pp and ate like kings! The food just keeps coming! It seems ridiculous to wait that long, but the food and the atmosphere is sooooo worth it. I can't wait for my own honeymoon so I can go back.

If you have any other questions, let me know. I love Italy, especially Florence and have been all over the country.

Re: Italy hotel recommendations!

If you want to splurge, I definitely recommend Caesar Augustus in Anacapri. The most gorgeous hotel I have ever stayed in! The best view I have ever seen!

You will not regret it!

Re: Italy hotel recommendations!

Thanks for the replies!

Ceasar Augustus is at the top of our list -- as long as we can fit it into the budget!

Shelly, I'll be in touch via FM for more details on Florence. So excited!
