Tinadansr's 6.26.09 Atlantis marine World, Thomas Paul, LA Blossom, Jacqueline Nicole, Sir Oliver, and many more wedding review.
A huge thanks to LIWEDDINGS Ron, Kim, and Liz what a wonderful site you have created! I got so many ideas and I loved sharing moments with other brides to be. I think the best part is making some great friendships along the way!
Our story: Jim and I met through a friend of a friend of a friend. 5 years later came the engagement. 2 years after that we finally set a date. 2 years later and 9 years in total we were walking down the aisle on our 9 year anniversary.
Weather-
Things were looking iffy the morning of the wedding. Even my hair dresser said “your hair is going up”. So that’s what we did in preparation for the frizzy mess my hair is when it is humid and rainy. While getting ready at my parents house I get a phone call from the photographer saying well what do you want to do it’s gorgeous out, beach pictures or indoors somewhere? So the decision was made BEACH!
We got great pre-wedding pictures at Iron Pier beach in Jamesport (Thanks Im a pepper!) It couldn’t have been better. We get to Atlantis start to take the family pictures about an hour to thirty minutes before the ceremony and the weather turns for the worst. We were so set on the outdoor ceremony and the outdoor cocktail hour. The black clouds came a rollin in (it was actually kinda scary!) So about 15 minutes before the ceremony a downpour and storm you wouldn’t believe. The staff at Atlantis was amazing I’ve never seen people move that fast everything was moved inside in a flash. So we said our “I Do’s” and were whisked into the cocktail hour in the tented room in the back and it was gorgeous. Fast forward to 10 minutes before the reception was about to start it stopped raining and there was a GORGEOUS double rainbow outside!! Oh by the way it down poured the rest of the night
Save the dates- Magnet queen www.magnetqueen.com
We won a GC from TWOTY 2008 from this company. They were quick fast and efficient! They changed our proof when we were not happy with it and the magnets arrived within a 3 week period.
Invites
www.scrollweddinginvitations.com
We got specialized wedding scrolls the company was overseas. It was hard to deal with them always over email. Their payment system was not great. But all in all the invites arrived early and intact. Mailing them was another story!
Card box
Made by DH himself! It was very easy… here is the website that we got the basic idea from, it was very easy to figure out however the specific directions did not really work for us. Once you get all the pieces you will see how the puzzle fits together.

The Dress- (seamstress shall remain nameless until I get the ok from her that I can use her name.)
Shopping for the one, UGH. I didn’t find it. I’m being honest every dress I tried on wasn’t the one. I never got that feeling. I had ripped out a POB dress from a magazine but the POB on long island didn’t have it. I had to trek into the city to try it on. The sample did not fit me well and I loved the dress but couldn’t picture myself in it.
So a friend of mine had her dress made and I asked her if she would talk to the women to see if that was a possibility for me. She said yes and then I really got excited. I met with the women and showed her the pictures of what I wanted. So over the course of 4-5 months the dress took shape and at my last fitting I finally got the teary eyed yeah this is the one moment.
Garter- I found it at Fredericks of Hollywood while shopping for B-pic outfits.
Shoes- Got them from Target. They were uncomfortable so I bought the gel cushions for your toes. They didn’t help and I was out of them the minute we walked into the seal tunnel after the ceremony. Hello flip flops
DOJ- Thomas Knoell- Is amazing! I had a medium sized comb, long earrings and my very special bracelet which contained my grandpa’s wedding ring. He did an amazing job on everything. DH bought my jewelry as my wedding gift. We both met with Tom at his shop. Bring a picture of your dress when you go. He knew right from the picture what would look great with it. I think the first time we met him we spent about an hour with him. Pick up was easy and fast.
Make up-Jacqueline Nicole Cosmetics-
She is an amazing artist and an amazing person! I had two trials with her and at each she took her time and considered my input. She also gave me options with different types of looks. The day of she was on time and very professional. She only books one bride a day which is very comforting. My makeup lasted the whole time from sweltering heat at the beach, a rainstorm with high humidity, and through the crying at the ceremony and when my father and I danced.
Hair- Salon 600, Sayville NY- Francine
Francine has been my hair person since I was about 12. She was the only one who could tame my curls. I trust her judgment so when I went to her in the morning and it looked like it was going to rain she said “it’s going up”. I was a little upset because I wanted my hair mostly down. Of course she found the perfect compromise. A low side swept pony on the side. It turned out to be perfect, especially as the night went on and it got quite humid.
Officiant-Captain Arnold
He was great! We both aren’t that religious and who better to marry us at an aquarium than a Captain. We both saw him at TWOTY 2008 and then again at my friend’s wedding. We decided to contact him and see if he was available for our date. He was and our ceremony was memorable and touching.
Photography- Thomas Paul Photography
We went to a lot of photographers. We booked with Tom the first time we met him. We loved his albums and his photography style. We actually OWN our pictures. Tom was great the day of. He dealt with our last minute decision to head to the beach and take pictures. He and his assistants shot all night. We got our proofs in about 2 weeks. All of the pictures came out great it was hard to choose only 80 for our album.
DJ- Sound Choice
Mike and his team were amazing! Our dance floor was going all night long. The sap shots were a definite bonus. We had people dancing up until the very last second. Mike was our MC and he did a great job not too pushy but he got everyone up on the floor.
Florist- LA BLOSSOM (Laurie)
UMMMMM… Simply amazing! I didn’t even think I needed a florist. Then I met Laurie. She turned our ceremony and reception into the candlelit dream I always had in mind. She’s sweet, down to earth, not at all a wedding factory. Two of my friends loved her flowers and they are using her too. The flowers lasted all night and did not wilt. We were able to say this is what we want to spend make it work and boy did she!
Limos- Sir Oliver
They were prompt, professional, and courteous. I don’t think my dress ever hit the ground when I was getting into or out of the car. These guys would have laid on the floor for me if they thought I would get messed up. Our driver that took both Jim and I back to our house was great. He helped Jim carry all the leftover stuff and gifts from the reception into the house. They even went with our last minute decision to head to the beach to take pictures.
Ceremony/Reception- Atlantis Marine World
AMAZING!! I can’t say enough good things. We got everything we wanted. The food was great our dessert hour was CRAZY!! Ron the head of catering was wonderful to work with. We both were never left without a drink in our hand. My bridal attendant was super helpful and very sweet. As I said before it rained we were supposed to have an outdoor ceremony/reception but about 10-15 minutes before DOWNPOUR! So the Atlantis staff brought everything that was set up outside indoors. In no time flat everything was set up and we started on time. If you’re looking for a unique and wonderful setting look no further than Riverhead, NY.

Awesome review! I feel so lucky to have been there! Although I hate that first picture...my dress is all wrinkly! Your wedding was amazing and all night long I kept telling everyone your wedding was going to kick all of our weddings' asses! I don't see a rating for your wonderful diy vases...I use mine all the time!Loved the pictures and you were even more beautiful in person!

your wedding looks amazing...you're dress is stunning!! I actually went to atlantis saturday to meet with ron and I'm thinking of going with it...my fiance and i want something different and it seems amazing...I was wondering though...we're expecting between 225-275 people..how many did you have and did it look too packed/too empty?
also, did you use the 'house' centerpieces or go with something else..? were there candles all over as ron promised..? it's so hard to get a good visual from the pics he showed in the office...i'm trying to get that picture in my head...
thank you and congrats!
