Can groom wear silver vest w/black tux to our black tie wedding on a sat night?

Hi! Need help! My fiance wants to wear a black tux and a silver vest to our black tie wedding in August. It's on a saturday night. I am all for it but just wanted to know:

- Is wearing a silver vest vs. black vest, less formal do you think?
- If he wears the silver vest, what color tie should he wear?
- If his groomsmen wear black tuxes and black vests, and he wears a silver vest (w/black tux), will his groomsmen look dressier that him?
- should they all then wear silver vests too? if we do that though, how will the groom stand out?
- fyi, my dress is an off white, bridesmaids will be in black dresses w/fuchsia pink waist bands.

any thoughts/help would be so appreciated!! thank you!!

I don't see a problem. I'd have him where either an ivory or black tie, I think they both go well with black and silver. Remember, it's you wedding, you and FH can do whatever you'd like

When I think black tie, I think the traditional tux with the black bow tie and black vest. That's just me though.

I think FH should be different from the GM so he stands out...not like no one's NOT going to know who the groom is...but just to be different.

it sounds totally fine to me. at the black tie weddings ive been to, i see the groom often 'stands out' by wearing an ivory vest and tie so why not silver? it's your wedding and whatever you want should be great!

That's what I am thinking of doing - my BM's will be in black and white.

actually most grooms wear white/ivory vest, but you can do whatever you want. If you do silver for him will be fine since its close to white and what most grooms do so will be appropriate.

DH wore ivory vest/burberry tie, gm wore black vests with burberry ties.
