What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

is overused? I saw this question on the knot and found the responses.....interesting. Many girls said:
-Cannon in D
-Unity candles
-Strapless gowns
To me these arent trends, am I wrong?

Others said:
-Monograms
-Candy bars
-Cupcakes
-brown and blue weddings

So what 'trend(s)' do you think are overdone? If any? I say if you like it-go for it

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I don't think unity candles, monograms, and canon D are trends - they are popular, sure, but they have been used for as long as I can remember.

I also think strapless gowns have been THE trend in gowns for awhile now, and I don't see a motion to change it. It may be the most popular style, but I wouldn't consider it an overused trend, since I see no signs of it changing.

I want to go go more weddings with cupcakes!! MMM. That's a trend I haven't seen in person!

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I love all of the above and don't agree that they are 'trends' either...I wore a strapless dress, used Cannon in D, and had a unity candle. It isn't so much a trend as what a bride's individual taste is. And another note...a unity candle is part of the religious part of most ceremonies...I'm not sure why that would be considered a trend

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I think that the brown is going to keep going in and out of style..it depends on the actual style of the dress. For instance pick ups are out and 20 years ago bridesmaids wore those puff sleeves so it's all in time that things go but color goes in and out. I think I read also that the 'bride' 'bridesmaid' shirts are out. That is just one magazine though. people still like cupcakes, I love them at least lol

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

i say most of those are traditions not trends. Trends to me is a color combo, style of dress a monogram can be a trend since people are using them but I don't think they are going out yet - soon though.

I don't think it's overdone but one of my BM's said that the two-tone BM dress is a trend. She may be on to something.

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I really like all the things you listed above and I am using 90% of them for my wedding. I think they are becoming more of the norm then a trend now. Cupcakes I can see as a trend but its such a yummy one.

I have to say if you are happy with what you got then you are happy. Just know that everyone has something to say. I have no idea what canon in d is so I guess I am a bit off on the trends

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I agree with some but Canon in D and Unity Candles arn't 'trends', they are traditional aspects of a religious ceremony lol

I feel like EVERYONE on this site is using a monogram cake topper, 'we do' letters and STD magnets, I mean I am having them too but LIWeddings makes me feel so unoriginal lol

Canon in D is music used during the actually ceremony, most of the time when either the bride of BM's walk down the aisle

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I think all of the above except Strapless Gowns. It's just a style of dress.

-I think entrances to loud 'Jock Jams' type music is so overdone.
-Participation dances, especially when there are props involved.
-Every single person gets to give a speech and there is a special dance for EVERYONE in your family. So boring for all the guests!

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

I agree with most saying that those things arent REALLy trends..though I must also say that some things are a bit over done at times. i would never insult anyone elses taste (at least not on purpose) but i do agree that some things go overboard. i think this site is very helpful but once someone comes up with something...everyone jumps on it and wants it too...Now I am just as guilty cause I have gotten some great ideas from you ladies and incorporated them into my wedding....but i do feel that at some point enough is enough.... Having every single damn thing personalized and having every extra thing possible to me is a complete waste. Having 50 'dances' is ridic because like mentioned above...no one wants to sit and watch you and fh dance to 5 songs together....we want to see the first....lol i dont know...its your wedding and you do what makes you happy.
as for the strapless gown thing....trend is not quite the word but i will say that i never even looked at a strapless gown. The problem is that trend or not sleeved gowns are few and far between but to me...there is just something more elegant and classic about a bridal gown with sleeves...adorned in lace...i dont know...i am a romantic...i love antique things....the gowns over yesteryear....and back then strapless was not happening.... but thats me...i realize i am in a small group if not alone....

Re: What wedding 'trend(s)' do you think.............

The only thing i really think of as a trend in weddings is really the fashion...20 years when we look back at our wedding pictures, we are going to think 'oh gosh, i wore THAT as my wedding dress!!' 'i picked THOSE as my BM dresses!!'

ITA!! Our parents and families have done it too so it will be normal.

Maybe the 'here comes the bride' banner is a trend, or custom made aisle runners.
