Timber point is owned by the same place that owns my RH, and the food is awesome...

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

I can tell you about Larkfield and Timber point, having been to weddings there. I personally like Timber Point better but it is all a matter of taste. I will say the food was fantastic at both. Larkfield was nice but there was a more personal feel to the other

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

our reception was at Larkfield manor and it was incredible. the people you deal with are so so nice and are always trying to make things better for you.

the food is awesome and oodles of it. my cousins who have attended many weddings still talk about how great mine was - - best they have been too.

there are pics in my album and I put together a slideshow of shots from Larkfield. take a look at them; maybe they will help you decide.

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

is the vanderbuilt mansion at downling the same as the vanderbuilt mansion/museum in centerport?? If so, I had my pictures taken there the day of the wedding and it is an amazing place. If that's not what youare talking about then I don't know.

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

I went to a reception at Vanderbilt mansion at dowling and it was very nice. There were a few things that were a bit rocky though..

The AC didnt work in the reception room so we were all VERY warm.
They never set p the atrium room in case it rained so when it did rain the ceremony had to take place in the reception room which eliminated the big 'wow' factor of the room.
A few of the wait staff dropped big trays of food (this is accidental, obv these things happen!) but didnt clean it up well so people kept falling.
THe biggest issue was although it was requested by the bride that NOTHING be made with nuts because of an allergy, there were desserts with nuts and the bride ahd to be rushed to the ER during the reception.

THe place is beautiful and classic, i just was a bit turned off by some of these issues!!

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

Timber point was our first choice for awhile. I loved the out door area for ceremony and CH. Food was very good - went to a tasting there. If we hadn't gone to East Wind we would be getting married at Timber Point.

Also went to a function at Larkfield - very pretty. Great food but I think Timber point had a more intimate feeling for me. Loved the fireplace and the mantles.

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

My friend just got married at the Larkfield this November and the service was phenomenal! The maitre'd and bridal attendant were so attentive and were so great my friend and her DH actually went into the bridal suite and tore open their tip envelopes to add more money to them!

The food was great and the hall was beautiful! Good luck!!

Re: going to see a site this weekend!

the only thing I didn't like about the vanderbilt mansion was the way the room was set up. The DJ speakers were right on top of the last table in the room. I don't think those guests were too happy:( But maybe that was just when we saw it.
