addressing invites question

two questions actually

1. for people that live on like 15th street, do you write that out or use numbers? what about 127th street? same rule for all numbers?

2. we have a gay couple that is 'married' on our list. i'm not sure what to put on the outside? i mean what form of address? mr. and mr.? no form of address? anyone else run into this? they've hyphenated their names so i don't think putting mr. joe blow-schmoe and mr. bill blow-schmoe would work?

Re: addressing invites question

1. I BELIEVE that you only write out the number ONE for addresses...but in writing you write out up until twelve??

2. Mr. John Baker
Mr. Jim Smith

alphabetical, like a heterosexual couple living together or a couple where the woman didn't change her name

Re: addressing invites question

I did spell out the numbers when it was their street name. #2 is a bit hard since they have the same last name now. What about Misters Joe and Bill Blowe-Schmoe?

Re: addressing invites question

Here's your best bet for addressing ... Hope this helps

1 ... the number situation .... spell out any number that is a one word number
up to twenty, then thirty, forty ... etc.
use symbols for any other # ... (127 is used or 21)

2. Write each person's name on a separate line individually if they are too long to fit together on the same line. This rule applies to anyone in any situation who is not commonly addressed as Mr & Mrs. Engaged or long standing couples also apply.

ie . Mr. Short Lastname and Ms. Short Lastname ...

or use:
Mr. Very LongLastname
Ms. Super LongLastname

in these cases you'd have to experiment with the size of your envelopes. Make your decisions on a case by case basis & ALWAYS CENTER EACH LINE OF THE ADDRESS ON THE ENVELOPE

Good luck!

Re: addressing invites question

My calligrapher said she spells out numbers ONE through TWELVE. Anything above that gets written in numerals.

As for the gay couple, I agree with the other posts. You would write it:

Mr. Jones
Mr. Smith
ADDRESS....

and on the inner envelope

Mr. Jones & Mr. Smith.

Re: addressing invites question

I kinda like the idea of

Mrs joeand-boblastname

It shows that you have respect for thier relationship and acknowledge their marriage.
