Breeders?

DH and I have been talking about getting a brother or sister for Oreo. After what happened with our last puppy this summer we do not want to go to a puppy store. Does anyone know any breeders? We are looking for a small dog that doesn't shed, maybe another cockapoo?

Re: Breeders?

oh yeah, you should NEVER get a puppy from a pet store. they're usually very sick. Breeders are the only way to go if you want a happy, healthy little dog.

I have a Cairn Terrier. They don't shed at all and are actually a smart breed. They don't get too big either, but it depends on what size you're looking for. Mine is the dog from 'Wizard of Oz' (little Toto) So that should give you an idea. But it also depends on how much you wanna spend. Pure Breds are obviously very expensive (esp when you get from a breeder). Mine was around $1,000 a few years ago.

I dunno where you are in NY, but my breeder was incredible. She's in Centereach, but I'm not sure if she's breeding right now. You can google her probably. I know she does those Dog Shows as well as breeding under the name of Pebble Rock. You could FM me though if you want more details.

Re: Breeders?

We have a yorkie. He is over 10 pounds and incredibly healthy and playful. We got him from the canine Coral. You will need to look them up. They are not a pet store. They get all their dogs from breeders. We had to wait for ours to be born and properly weaned before he was allowed to go home with us. They are very good about providing you with very detailed instructions for care. I would 100% recommend them and getting a yorkie.

Re: Breeders?

I would recommend a maltese, I have one she's fully grown and weighs about 6 pounds. They dont shed and they are so small, cute, smart and playful.

Re: Breeders?

Sorry for crashing - just wanted to let you know if anyone recommends a breeder named Marie from Hempstead DO NOT get your dog from her. She carries yorkies, malteses, cavaliers and other small dogs. She gets her dogs from puppy mills and has been cited numerous times. Myself and others have had horrible experiences with her.

Re: Breeders?

Go to the American Kennel Club Website make sure any breeder you use is registered with them -

I have a 6lb Pom ( He is very furry) but doe snot shed - Just have to keep up with the grooming - Got him from a CT breeder -

Please be very careful - I had a horrible expierance with someone who claimed to be a breeder

Good Luck

Re: Breeders?

Plenty of doggies that are in shelters that need homes badly. There is a big list of cockapoos on petfinder
