BM Dress Shopping This Past Sunday.
So while you ladies were having a FANTASTIC time at the '09 shower, I was at Bridal Reflections rummaging through racks trying to find a dress for my girls. Yes, my wedding is less than 6 months away and yesterday was the day they ordered their dreses.
I hope they come in on time. We decided on Bill Levkoff 855 in black. It was the most flattering on everyone. One dilemma I had was when everyone got measured, FSIL was being the most difficult. She had put on weight due to depression issues (I feel bad for her) and she went to get measured. Well, she was measured at a size 18 and she flipped because she had to pay extra because anything over a 16 they charge you for. You know what size she told them to order?????? A 14!!!!!!!
WHAT THE HELL! Is she going to starve herself for the next 5 months????? I was so upset but then my Sister said 'don't worry, I ordered my dress in a bigger size so if anything, I'll give her mine and take hers.' I just thought that was so foolish that she ordered a 14 when the girl suggested getting an 18 at minimum! FMIL was there fighting with her on it. I guess I can't dwell and hope for the best! I am glad we got the BM dress ordered already! I hope FSIL didn't make a mistake ordering a dress too small.

Well at least that's behind you! And hopefully it fits her...if not, it was nice for your sister to offer
My FSIL did the same thing - she made them order a size down because she refused to believe she was the size the store said - so it caused nothing but a head ache....Bridal Reflections said if it comes in and it doesn't fit her and they have to order more material to make it fit her the alteration caps don't apply so it could cost up to $200 to alter the dress (rather then the $85 cap to take the dress in if it were too big)....secretly because of the hard time she gave...I hope it doesn't fit her...does that make me evil???

OMG! I had the SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME! My FSIL had to order a size 18 too and she also flipped over the extra cost. And of course it comes in and is SWIMMING ON HER! So she flips out on me. These FSILs need to calm down a bit! I sympathize with ya hun!

They told her the same thing- that it's not advisable to do this because it could really cost her a fortune in the end to add a panel to the dress (not to mention that it will look like $hit!) I don't think you are evil for hoping it doesn't fit her but I think it could be a MAJOR headache and that you don't need.

Well, at least you got one more thing to take off the 'to do list'. Hopefully the dress will fit FSIL! I understand her wanting to lose weight but now she is putting a lot of pressure on herself by ordering a dress thats too small!

Yea, they charge more money if it's over a size 16. I think it's ridiculous! I also have to order more fabric to make shawls BUT Bridal Reflections wanted 60 bucks PER person to order fabric! Give me a break! I have to find out where the fabric comes from and get it elsewhere because 60 bucks on top of what the girls' are paying is INSANE!

I know and not to mention it being very unhealthy to lose weight like that in such a short amount of time.

That's very true too! I didn't even think about that!
