tanning?

Is anyone planning on going to a tanning salon before the wedding? I've never gone and I am thinking about it because my wedding is in April so I will definitely be ghostly white day of (not like I can sun myself in December). How much damage do you think it will do? Is it ok as long as I don't make it a habit for years or do you think it would be really damaging just in a short period of time? Also, how many times would I have to go? How far in advance should I start going to have a nice tan on the wedding day?

TIA!

I got it done for my E-party. I didn't turn orange, there are 2 levels you can get.
I always get the 1st one, which is the lightest. and it comes out really nice, you just have to make sure you put the cream in the spots they tell you to!

Re: tanning?

If your planning on doing this just for the wedding then it's not gonna harm you. I went just before my vacation this past may and I went about 5-6 times and i got a nice tan. Now that my wedding is in may i plan on doing this again.

Vicki... I would suggest going 2 days before... esp since you go to the gym and probably sweat so its likely that you will shed more color...
Jess (PWP) used to do the airbrushing actually- like actually give them...if you need any oppinions or help let me know. I go quite often so I can give tips!

No im not spraying myself! im goign to salon & doing a spray tan. The ones you saw probably were either done by the person or a bad place (although ive neever seen a reputable place make you ornage). I too would rather be pale then orange which is why u should always do a test on a body part (u cant see) before spraying away!

I think that you can absolutely go tanning. Although, I'm eager to try this spray tanning. I've never done it before.

Re: tanning?

whether it will do damage its hard to know ahead of time. Its not said that a few times something will DEFINITELY happen so theres no way of knowing. There are ppl who can go for years and nothing ever happen and then you have some ppl who can go a few times and something happen.

are you very pale and get red if you ever get a tan? you can go tanning but they would only allow you to do it for a few mins, about 5 maybe 7 minutes the most. But also remember that if you normally get red, there is a possibility you will get a bit red even from a tanning bed. I always get bronze, even in the sun so i dont have a problem with this with tanning beds but i have seen others who do. You can go a few times but test it out now dont wait until right before your wedding bc you never know what it will end up looking like, always better to test ANYTHING ahead of time that you plan to do different for a wedding. I go tanning in a tanning salon occasionally and had planned to go for the wedding. I went a while before but then decided not to do it right before the wedding. I know there are times i get tanned and love the color in person but in pics i realize how much the color stands out and especially in white it was just too much in your face. For the wedding you really would just want a very subtle tan, the pics make it look even darker. I did make sure to tell make up artist to do a bit of bronzer instead. I was afraid to risk looking funny. Even 2 weeks before my wedding i was in vegas and my friends were at the pool every single day getting a tan and i refused to, i said i was afraid to risk getting tanning lines or knowing my luck not getting a great even tan or getting too dark or who knows what. SO instead while in vegas i went once to sunset tan, that was the last time before my wedding i went tanning. I also use the diamond beds at beach bum for 12 mins, and with the lotion i use, just one time of me going i get VERY dark, thats bc it is their highest bed and i do it for the most amount of time they allow.

I couldn't do spray tan bc my skin is very sensitive and i get allergic reactions to such things. Even with the tanning lotion i have to be careful which one i use. If youre interested in this, again test it out now and see how you like it. I hear mixed things and i think depends maybe on where you go, i know ppl who do it and some come out looking so great and natural while others streak by their feet alot or get a not so natural look.

Re: tanning?

im someone who tans like all the time- not good i know. but i HIGHLY suggest going just a few times and then the day before getting a spay tan. be careful where you go. i go to purple butterfly in east meadow, i dont know if thats close to u but its worth it. and if ur gonna get sprayed. make sure its not one of those machines theyre very blotchy and when someone does it for you they can mix ur color and get every spot of ur body. good luck!

Barbie- I go to Beach Bum presently also. You just need to find BBum's with the "California Tan"...you will never want to mystic again! YOu can look it up on their website and find a salon with that machine. I promise its worth a ride!

Re: tanning?

I will got to the tanning salon, the month before. I have a destination wedding, so I do not have time or the right people there to get the fake tan done.
I never go tanning and I am super careful usually but when it comes to looking good on my wedding day, i will not compromise...also I want it to look real. I figured how bad can it be...I know its awful...

While agree that looking your best on your day is important i would never risk myhealth. And lets face it while we knowprobably mostly everything is bad & will do harm in some way later on right now we only have the facts about tanning & tanning beds. Even though you are carfeul all the othertimes this time could be the one that harms you. Its nt worth it. Spray tan by a salon is safer & healthier & you will NOT look fake or orange. those are the bottled kind you buy in the pharmacy & do urself!

I only urge you because i recently lost an uncle to braincancer which stemmed from a melonoma on his back! ITS NOT WORTH IT!
