Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

i think ppl havent answered bc honestly, all the places right around MSG arent THAT great. The closest place i can think of is Houston's, its a little bit further though.

Around MSG you'll find TGIF, houlihans and alot of places like that. If you go in the 40's closer to grand central theres more places around there

I think theres supposed to be a good steakhouse though.

Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

Actually there is a place that me and DH went to when we saw Billy Joel.
It's in the Afiina Hotel and it's called Niles. Nice place, good food and walking distance to MSG. Niles

Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

if you like cuban food, there's havana NY on 38th between 5th & 6th. i haven't been there in a while, but the food and sangria were good.

if you like steak and don't mind spending $$, there's keens steakhouse on 36th off of 6th. it's kind of a boys club though, but the steak is good.

I agree, it's mostly chain restaurants and commuter bars around there.

Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

actually we have rangers season tix and there is one place we go before every single game and that is Cafe 31 which is on 31st between 7th and 8th avenue....its not fancy (more like a sports bar/restaurant) but the food is out of this world. Best crab cake you will ever eat.

Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

Stout -- great Irish bar/restaurant *right* by MSG.

Just walk out the main area -- you will see the Pennsylvania Hotel across the street -- and ask one of the 500 cops that stand out there where Stout is and they will point it out to you. You can literally see it from outside MSG.

HTH!

Re: Any good places to eat by madison square garden?

The Molly Wee pub... on 30th and 8th... good friends of my family own it.... great people and a great little pub. Clean and not nasty like many other pubs nearby

Great food and good bar selection. it gets busy when there's Ranger games or other big events, but very reasonable for the food. Drinks are comparable to the rest of the area.
