after ceremony

i double posted from bhb

Is anyone doing anything after the ceremony as far as blowing bubbles, ringing bells, throwing birdseed goes? I can not think of what do to. We can't have flower petals thrown, & I hear bubbles will stain your dress, so what else is there?

Re: after ceremony

i would love to do something, but i don't know what. i don't know if i want anything. bubbles can be a little under-done. people don't blow them, or they do and only two bubbles come out!

a lot of people are talking abouts sparklers. maybe your guests can have them when you walk out??

I could just see a fire starting on the train of my dress with sparklers!

I think I am going to do bubbles. They are cheap and again, not many bubbles will make it to your dress.

Re: after ceremony

I'm going to be sticking to birdseed...nice and old fashioned. lol. I was going to do the bubbles but I just don't see that going over well. I loove the sparklers idea, but when the ceremony is over it'll still be day light out, so I don't know...

Re: after ceremony

Just be wary of butterfly's, my step-sister did that and half of them had died! I don't think her father listened to the directions for caring for them properly, but still, i'm now afraid of that repeating!

Re: after ceremony

i am having a outdoor ceremony and i am planning on handing out SPARKLERS wrapped with personalized matches. i am having the JP im using ask people to arrange in line before we turn as husband and wife.(i am still working out the kinks). IF your getting married in a chuch have your guest leave prior and wait in a line so you and your husband can walk through.BEST LUCK

Re: after ceremony

I LOVE the idea of ribbon wands, I think Mrs. Garcia posted them last night too. Gotta represent the ribbon dancer from the early 90's!

But I don't think it's really season appropriate for me, and there are no stairs or real walkway out of the church, it just kind of goes right to the parking lot driveway. If anything, I might just get a basket of small silver bells, it's much more winter I think.

Re: after ceremony

lol alright I'm hijacking for a reallly dumb question...

But I don't understand how it works?? Like, after the kiss and the clapping, I thought we walk back down the aisle and out the church? So how do the guests get outside to throw stuff when you walk out of the church, bc they are still inside??

Can someone please explain, lol, I have been wondering this for weeks.

Re: after ceremony

I don't think we are going to do anything....rice is not allowed, nor is birdseed (and I am happy about that because so many of my friends spent FOREVER pulling the seeds out of their hair once they got to the reception.) Rose petals aren't allowed - bubbles are but it just seems more hassle than anything. I say we take pics, and head to the reception and cocktails! hehe.

ok i THINK this is how it goes after the kiss the bride n grrom set up for a reciving line so that gives the guests time to go outside and the bp to give out what u r doing then the bride n groom come out and everyone throws..u take some pics and then u r off i think thats how it goes but what the hell do i know

Re: after ceremony

I did bubbles and didnt stain at all. Also ill say that if you do happen to get a bubble stain then that will be the smallest of your stains. Its insane how filthy the dress gets. The only time I freaked out the day of is when i walked out of the church and about to get on the bus and went to lift my train, all i saw was black on the bottom of my dress and i mean badly, even the sides. You have to figure that dress is dragging on the floor outside and inside the church you will pick up all the dirt off the floor lol. I knew they get dirty bc everyone said it but didnt expect THAT dirty that early on. ALSO i had this big orange stain on the bodice of my dress when i walked out of the church, i think it was from some flower the church had or something, i dont even know. I was so annoyed and showed my DOC before i got on the bus and she took the stain right out. So trust me to not even worry about a bubble stain.

Oh and they also make stain-free bubbles now, you can buy them online

yes you walk out first, but in the hallway of the church you and your parents stop and stay to the side and do a receiving line. As guests are walking outside the church they stop to hug and congratulate you and then walk outside. So after all the guests walk out of the church then you are done with receiving line and they will all be outside waiting for you as you walk out.
