Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

This woman was so overwhelmed, she forgot her daughter in the car for 8 hours in August. The baby died of heatstroke. I just have no words for this. The woman hates herself for it. She didnt normally bring her baby with her so she just FORGOT. My God, I do some stupid things when Im overwhelmed but I just dont think I could forget my baby in a car....

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

how do you forget your baby for 8 hours, thats a VERY long time. I would think most mothers would think 'OMG where is my baby' i see mothers who freak out if their kid isnt in their sight for a few mins. That is just a bit much and can't even comprehend how that can happen.

Where was she? Where was the car parked for 8 hours?

I understand being overwhelmed, but when she got out of the car didnt she see the baby was in the car i dont know its just weird to me, dont see how that happens. If i get out of the car and forget my phone i remember within a few mins and go back. You just know something is missing.

Exactly! I always check my car before I walk away from it because I know what an airhead I am. But I dont think I could EVER EVER forget a child. Its just nuts. Her husband has forgiven her and doesnt blame her. He said he could have done the same thing easily. I dont want to judge her because she obviously HATES herself for it. But its just insane to me.

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

OMG how sad!!!!!!

She didn't hear the baby while she was in the car??

Was the baby normally with a babysitter? If so wouldn't the sitter call the mother to see where the baby was?
Something doesn't seem right.

i feel the same way. Some things you can understand and see how ppl mess up but no matter how much i try to think of how this can happen, i just dont see how. I can understand somebody running out of the car in a hurry but then after a few mins realizing they forgot the baby in the car. I hate to say this but dont know if i can forgive for that since i cant comprehend how this could even happen.

i also think this story is very shady. Obviously she had to drop the baby off somewhere, so nobody noticed when she never showed up with the baby and it took 8 hours for somebody to see a baby in the back seat.

The baby was asleep. She got up early and that morning wasnt her normal routine. The father normally took the baby and the other daughter to the babysitter but he had a dentist appt. So the mom took the baby and was going to drop the baby at the babysitter. She realized it was too early for the sitter so she went to pick up donuts for the teachers and just forgot and drove straight to school I guess forgetting she decided it was too early to drop the baby off unloaded her car and went to work.

im glad she remembered to pick up donuts but forgets about her baby and of course she remembered to take the donuts out of the car but not the baby. See now this story just got even more weird. Obviously it wasnt a situation where she just parked and RAN out of the car. She had donuts in the car which of course cant be forgotten, so after she parked she did have those few seconds where she had to reach to take something out of the car with her. Whether it was front seat or back seat, you are turning slightly, dont you see the carseat and why didnt the babysitter call. And as a teacher, i am sure she also had other things to take with her

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

I dunno. I can understand how overwhelmed people can get. I have done some really really stupid sh!t when I have so much on my plate. REALLY stupid ****. A lot of women called into the show saying theyre so overwhelmed they left a frying pan on or one woman said she put clothe sin the dryer and didnt realize her baby's kitten was in there and killed it. I can see myself doing these things. Sometimes when I think about having kids, I think about what kind of mother Ill be and sometimes I make such stupid mistakes during the day that it makes me never wanna have kids..

That is a crazy story....I agree....she remembered the take the donuts out of the car??? But not her baby? And it took 8 hours before someone noticed....you mean she didn't remember within those 8 hours that she was supposed to take her baby to the sitter?

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

Here is the thing. I dont understand it either BUT oprah said this show was for every woman who has missed teh exit they take EVERY SINGLE DAY or every woman that pulls up to their house and cant remember how they got there

It really affected me. . . I am on autopilot to and from work. . . I would love to say I could never forget my kid but who really know? I bet she thought that too.

I wish I could say I am a better person and I have sympathy for her but I can't physically feel that way. . .but I try not to judge.

MANY times I am supposed to go somewhere after work like the supermarket and all of a sudden I am IN MY HOUSE before realizing it!

Or one day, I literally forgot to turn down my block and didnt realize it until about 5 blocks later. . .
