BM Dress opinion?
OK, so originally I had my heart set on this Jim Hjelm dress. It looks much better in the picture than in person, but given that it's tafetta, it's actually not awful in person!
I thought it would be great because of the deep rich color, and the sillhouette is close to my dress. With the exception of maybe one or two BMs, no one will really have a problem with the fitted nature of the dress. Even they won't look bad in it. But now I'm afraid in pictures, the dress will be really shiny and give off that green tinge that taffeta always seems to give off.
So my dress saleswoman recommended picking a satin dress to match my dress material, because it will look better in pics. I found two that I liked so far:
I like this one because it has a similar neckline to mine, but my sister (MOH) wasn't too keen on it, and my mother thought since I have a few younger girls it may be inappropriate.
The last one I have to attach, but I like it a lot in the Claret/Ivory band combo. It reminds me of the David's Bridal dress with the big half bow, only no bow, and it actually comes in more than 3 colors! If I stray from my original choice, it would probably be to this one.
Which one would you choose?

Re: BM Dress opinion?
I would go with the taffeta or the last one. The 2nd one does look a bit mature if you have younger bridesmaids (depending on how young....) You might be able to find another dress in the same style but different fabric, too. Good luck!

Re: BM Dress opinion?
Thanks for the opinions so far girls!I'm leaning more towards the tafetta and the two-tone dress. Of my 6 girls, the three older will be at the time of the wedding 33, 24 and 24, and the three youngest will be 20, 19, and 16. I'm concerned for the 16 and 19 year old with too sexy of a neckline, so I'm thinking sweetheart for them may be out. Nor would I want any of the other girls popping out of the dress, and bridezilla moment, I'm definitely on the smaller side, and I really would rather not have anyone diverting any attention away with a bigger chest, or making me look even flatter by comparison!

So first or third it is...

I like the 1st and 3rd, although for the same reason as you, I'm not too crazy about the Taffeta, so I'd prob go with the 3rd!!Have your girls try both on and see how they feel!

Re: BM Dress opinion?
I personally dont care for 2 or 3, but there are other pretty satin dresses out there (like the one Espo22 wore this weekend as a bridesmaid in Florezpeeps wedding)As far as taffeta having a green tinge, I think it depends on the color of the fabric. Jim Hjelm fabrics list the color and the color it shimmers on their swatches. A friend used JH bridesmaid dresses a month ago and the dresses were stunning. I'm not on my laptop right now but FM me if you want me to send you some pictures -- they were a periwinkle color.
I used tissue taffeta for my girls too, and it does photograph differently depending on the light -- in some pictures they were shimmery and in others they were more of a flat muted color but I thought they were stunning and got tons of compliments on them. I also think it's a more flattering fabric
I have pictures in my album of our taffeta dresses
